The lorquino painter José López Gimeno donates a portrait of King Felipe VI to the City of Lorca to preside over the Hall of Cabildos (24/01/2020)

The author of the canvas has made the donation in a totally altruistic way to the Consistory to replace the image of King Emeritus, Don Juan Carlos I, with that of the current Monarch wearing a great label suit of Captain General of all armies.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, presented this morning the new picture of King Felipe VI who is already presiding over the Council Hall of the City of Lorca.

Mateos explained that "this morning, the Local Government Board has approved the donation of the portrait of King Felipe VI to preside over the Very Illustrious Hall of Cabildos of the City of Lorca, a hall in which a multitude of acts such as press conferences, takeovers or civil ceremonies. "

The mayor of Lorca has detailed that "it is the lorquino painter, José López Gimeno, the author of this magnificent oil painting, 120 centimeters high and 84 centimeters wide, which, with a great label suit of Captain General of all armies, shows the current Monarch. It also sports the Golden Pheasant, the Grand Cross of the Order of Carlos III, Banda, the Grand Cross of the armies of Earth, Sea and Air, as well as the belt of Captain General of the armies. "

Mateos Molina has stated that "this painting replaces that of King Emeritus who has chaired this Chamber for decades and whose authorship is due to Juan Jiménez Asensio: Now this painting will now be placed, after a small restoration to which it is already being submitted, in a privileged situation in the Noble City Hall of the City of Lorca ".

Diego José Mateps has thanked "the donation, totally disinterested, of the author of this work of art, of the portrait of the monarch Felipe VI.
