The mayor of Lorca asks the Murcia Health Service "to make an effort" (29/01/2020)

Diego José Mateos has expressed concern about the average wait that patients must endure to go to Traumatology, General Surgery, Urology and Gynecology that triples the maximum lost by the Law, the 215'9 days of waiting to go to rehabilitation or the 63 '1 days for surgical interventions.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has assessed the data made public by the Ministry of Health in relation to waiting times in the whole of Area III.

Mateos has returned to show his concern in view of the 'new increase' registered in a good part of the consultations of specialties of the Rafael Méndez hospital and Area III of Health.

Mateos said that "despite the 'slight improvement' registered in the waiting times for the first consultation in Dermatology, where the wait was reduced compared to the previous month around 11 days, the wait for Traumatology, General Surgery consultations, Urology and Gynecology continues to increase, tripling the maximum time allowed by law, and in the case of the Rehabilitation consultation, the wait is maintained above 200 days, specifically 215'9 days. "

Regarding surgical interventions, the mayor of Lorca has pointed out that "there have been no improvements in waiting times for surgical interventions, since this last month the wait has increased by 12 days, reaching an average of 63'1 days on average" .

Mateos Molina has indicated that "another of the most worrisome indicators left by the data made public by the Ministry of Health is the number of patients with no date assigned for specialist consultation. And in Area III, the number of people who they wait without an appointment to be treated, it already reaches 4,755 patients, 200 more than the previous month. "

The First Edil recalled the meeting he held yesterday with the manager of Area III of Health and that he has valued as "very helpful" by expressing the person in charge "his intention to transform the image of Area III of Health, putting on the table the infrastructure needs such as the San Cristóbal Health Center, a new Emergency Service (SUAT) as well as the reduction of waiting lists. "

Diego José Mateos has asked the Murcia Health Service "to make an effort to reduce these waiting lists by providing Area III not only with material means but also with sufficient human means, as it does with the rest of the areas of the Region to that the professionals and the necessary infrastructures are had to reduce waiting times as much as possible and to comply with the parameters legally established by the Ministry of Health itself.
