More than 300 unemployed young people find work thanks to the programs offered by the Youth and Local Development departments (31/01/2020)

Thanks to the Operational Program of the Region of Murcia and the Youth Guarantee Program, young people between the ages of 16 and 30 benefit from labor intermediation with professionals who help them in their job search.

The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, José Ángel, has taken stock of the results obtained by the different employment programs to which both councils are attached.

Ponce has detailed that "about 300 unemployed young people have found work, since the implementation of the Operational Program of the Region of Murcia in June 2016, an initiative from which labor intermediation is carried out."

The Edil has highlighted the importance of labor intermediation, "the main added value of this program and that facilitates contact between employer and job seeker since to optimize the results of the program, the Department of Youth has a labor guidance technician , which performs orientation, information and intermediation functions with individualized attention to young people aged 16 to 30, according to their profiles and training needs. "

"In addition, there is a bag of candidates to offer the profiles demanded by the companies of the municipality that decide to be part of this program and bet on the future of our young people. A bag that, during the year 2019, were 313 young people those enrolled in the employment exchange, of which 175 have found a job through this service, "continued the Councilor.

Ponce Díaz explained that "the profile of the young person who accesses this service is very heterogeneous, from young university students seeking access to a first job, young people who already have work experience and are unemployed or inactive young people who approach this service for the first time type of services ".

The Councilor for Youth has indicated that "it is a program co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) by 80 percent, by the Directorate General of Youth with a financial contribution of 34,600 euros and by the City of Lorca, which It is carried out in parallel with the Youth Guarantee and which reflects the strong commitment of this City Council together with the Directorate General of Youth to implement active employment policies for a vulnerable group such as youth, as reflected in the population surveys and its comparison with other countries of the European Union ".

On the other hand, José Ángel Ponce has taken stock of the data obtained by the Youth Guarantee Program in 2019, "in which 201 young people were enrolled, of which 45, 22 men and 23 women have obtained employment. In addition, 25 participants were they have integrated into the education and training system, that is to say, that during the past year 70 young people have obtained either work or training results, thanks to this initiative ".

"To this data, he adds that 21 young people were referred to the 'Alto Guadalentín' Adult Education Center to finish their Secondary Education studies and about 50 percent have obtained satisfactory results."

The Edil explained that "the Youth Guarantee program is a European initiative, in which the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia participates, which aims to facilitate the access of young people between 16 and under 30 to the labor market , apprenticeship, internship or training appropriate to their needs and interests, after completing their studies or when they become unemployed. "

Ponce stressed that "the objective of this program is to improve job search capabilities through career guidance and job information, as well as to enhance the development of skills, abilities and attitudes that facilitate access to the labor market, the incentive for companies to hire young people or support entrepreneurial ideas. "

The Councilor for Youth recalled that "on an annual basis, from the Department of Youth, a Technical Coordination Board is organized as a working instrument in which all municipal areas involved directly and indirectly are represented with the objective of maintaining and expanding a cooperation network between the different agents involved in the proper functioning of said project such as counselors of the educational centers, counselors of the SEF, members of the Department of Employment, Foundation of the Gypsy Secretariat or the Association of Young Entrepreneurs ".

José Ángel Ponce has encouraged young Lorca who have finished their studies and are unemployed to "go to the offices of the Informajoven service of the Department of Youth, located in the Center for Local Development, to benefit from intermediation labor and personalized attention that we offer daily from this service ".
