Pedro Sosa has lamented that the government team has hidden from the citizens that its proposal goes through making important cuts in fundamental social areas such as Women, Youth, Health, libraries or basic benefits for families, to increase by 80,000 euros the " publicity and propaganda".
Therefore, they will defend an alternative modification with which these cuts are avoided, what is announced by the Mayor is maintained and, in addition, credit is transferred to bury the La Viña transformers, among other proposals
The spokesman of the United Left-Greens in the City of Lorca, Pedro Sosa, has denounced today that the municipal government team of PSOE and C's take to the next plenary session a modification of the extended budget "without having anyone again and without having negotiated with his group".
Sosa returned to recriminate the mayor, Diego José Mateos, his efforts to work with PP budgets, making minor modifications, "so as not to sit down to negotiate with those who facilitated his investiture."
"We have already warned you that for every change in the budget you would need the IU vote, but you still don't show us the slightest respect by submitting credit modifications" as if they were lentils. "
PSOE and C's intend to apply cuts in 56 items to transfer credit to another 25, including 25,000 euros for the conditioning of the Local Police headquarters in the San Cristóbal area, 35,000 for a green area on Fray Beato Pedro street Soler or 18,457 for a grant to the foundation that manages the Child Care Center of La Paca.
For Sosa, the municipal government team has used these actions as "baits" to force IU-Greens to vote favorably at the same time as others "with whom we will never agree."
And it is that the municipal government team proposes to vote on all the budget modifications "in block" so, to be approved, the IU councilors would also be forced to approve an increase of expenditure of 80,000 euros in "advertising and propaganda" and another of 70,000 for the Horse Fair, which already has consignment in the budgets carried over.
Therefore, by means of the amendments, this increase in expenditure will be suppressed.
Mateos and the councilor of the Treasury, Isidro Abellán, have not told the public that their proposal also goes through cutting expenditure items in important social areas.
Specifically, the Women's area (-9,000 euros), the Greater area (-4,000), Youth (-5,000), Health (-16,000), libraries (-3,000) or collaboration with social groups (-6,000).
For the councilors of IU-Verdes these cuts in social policies are "unacceptable" because they deepen inequality and make a dent in the neediest groups, "which are the first that the PSOE is obliged to protect under the investiture agreement with IU "where people were going to be" first. "
For all these reasons, IU-Verdes is going to present amendments to this budget modification with a double objective: "Avoid cuts in these social areas and improve the proposal of actions proposed by PSOE and C's".
With the proposal, the shadow will be maintained in the Sacred Heart school, the conditioning of the archaeological site of the castle and the departure for the Point of Attention to Children of La Paca.
By means of the amendments of modification, the game for the UA-23 would be extended up to € 220,400.5, "because we do not want only the green zone, but we intend to start the management work of that block, where it should go the new health center for the Neighborhood, "said Sosa.
In addition, credit would be transferred to buy and install lift chairs in the municipal pool of La Torrecilla (5,000 euros) and to collaborate with the Association of producers and processors of aromatic plants in the creation of the quality brand "Tierras Altas" (2,000 euros ).
On the security in the Neighborhood and its area of ​​influence, the amendments will serve to create in this area a new "Neighborhood Police" unit with four agents, endowed with 172,800 euros.
"We believe that the agents have to be on the street, not in a rental room that will not have enough security measures with the 25,000 euros that the mayor wanted to invest there," said Sosa.
In addition, for the start-up of that barracks, agents of other services would have to be taken away, worsening security in other neighborhoods and districts.
"It's not about removing others to reinforce the neighborhood, but about creating new places for this area."
In this regard, Sosa demanded that the PSOE and C's execute the planned game in the budgets carried out to create another ten places.
His group partner, Gloria Martín, explained that the amendments have been made through negotiations with the rest of the opposition groups and hoped that they will move forward in plenary.
"We are going to avoid unnecessary spending, the social cuts foreseen by the government team and improve its proposals."
Martín recalled that politics "is the art of the possible" and that in a scenario where there are no absolute majorities, "citizens demand dialogue for the benefit of Lorca."
Martín thanked the cordiality and willingness to reach agreements and asked PSOE and C's that this "serve as an example of how things can be done when there is political will to put the general interest before partisan differences."
