The councilors of Health and the Mayor of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce and María Dolores Chumillas, have visited the free oral health conferences that have been held at the facilities of the Integrated Center for Vocational Training of Lorca.
Ponce explained that "thanks to the signing of a collaboration agreement with the University of Murcia, the Department of Health conducts these free oral health conferences for seniors in the municipality of Lorca."
The Edil has detailed that "specifically, these workshops are aimed at a total of 50 people aged between 65 and 76 years and the attention will be carried out through two shifts, from 17 to 18 hours and from 18 to 19 hours, in the one of the Integrated Center of Professional Formation of Lorca, next to the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences ".
Ponce Díaz has indicated that "the conference will consist of three parts: an oral health education talk, given by the students of the Degree in Oral Hygiene of the Faculty; the exhibition of oral care products: Glaxo Smith and a free oral examination by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Murcia ".
The Councilor for Health has reported that "in addition, the data collected after this exploration will be part of the Spanish National Oral Health Survey."
On the other hand, María Dolores Chumillas stressed that "it is a new initiative in our municipality with which we intend to raise awareness among our elders of the importance of oral health so that professionals in the sector will teach them the basic care to implement ".
