The Councilor for Rural Development in the City of Lorca by the Popular Party, Angel Meca, has claimed that the Municipal Consistory immediately assume the new agreement signed between the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM), which will allow the City Council to proceed with the integral cleaning of the waterways that pass through urban sections.
We are talking about an agreement that has been released just two days ago, and that constitutes a radical change in this matter, since the Consistory will no longer have to wait for the CHS to grant the necessary permits to clean these sections of channels
From the PP we claim that the current local government immediately adheres to this agreement, and, as we have repeatedly requested, the current local government is put to work urgently in the removal of tons of rubble, garbage and weeds that are accumulating in the Guadalentín river.
They have to coordinate to solve what is happening along the path between the Escarambrujo and the district of Tercia.
As all Lorca people know at this point, because we have already denounced this matter repeatedly, the Guadalentín River has become the "Garbage River", and is still plagued with debris, mountains of waste, accumulations of weeds and debris of all kinds .
We demand that the current local government move token, now that it has a tool that was not available to date.
This agreement allows the City Council to act directly in the channels, something that could not be done before.
That is why they cannot now avoid their responsibility, but face that the bed of the Guadalentín, as well as other urban channels such as Las Ramblas de Las Señoritas, Las Chatas and Los Peñones, among others, cannot continue as they are.
This agreement, however, cannot serve as an excuse for the CHS to remain with folded arms while the Ramblas of Lorca present a worse state due to their inaction and ineffectiveness.
We must regret that because of the indolence of the CHS there are promenades in our municipality that have become authentic rubble, and this despite the fact that the requirements from the Popular Party have been constant.
We have no choice but to remind the CHS that they have not been clearing any wadi for more than two years, with the consequent danger that this constitutes in case of heavy rainfall.
Moreover, the CHS should have embarrassed with episodes as serious as the DANA that affected us last September, but far from correcting their mistake and inaction, persevere in the error.
The enclaves that, according to the indications transferred by the citizens, should be the object of priority action by the CHS, are the riverbed of the Guadalentín, Ramonete, Béjar, Del Pintado, Rafael Méndez and Purias, among others, "something we already demanded last June without doing anything".
From the Popular Party "we have publicly denounced this situation on several occasions, and they still do nothing. The neglect of both the current mayor and his group of councilors is total, and his colleagues at the CHS are still arms crossed. We have to remember Last July, we informed the current government of the situation, and they did nothing, but we suffered the heavy rains in September and they did not clean any channels, so that, nobody understands what is motivating the current mayor and the CHS to allow the riverbed to be plagued with accumulations of personal belongings, debris, debris, garbage and all kinds of waste "
"We have to point out that the complaints that are making us reach the Popular Party from neighbors in the area as well as walkers and groups of athletes who usually travel along the riverbed, are multiplying, so we demand that once and for all the current mayor and the CHS get down to work and immediately undertake a shock cleaning of the garbage piles that exist. We are talking about a problem to which they have to put a solution immediately, because what could be a route to that citizens enjoy their leisure walking, hiking or as a sports route, it is actually a waste route, nor can we understand how it is possible that the current mayor has not given the instructions as obvious as necessary to monitor the area and this type of actions against civility is controlled, since the complaints in this regard are repeated throughout the last months. "
