The mayor of Youth recalled that "this program aims to create a national education and awareness strategy to combat racism, Islamophobia, hate speech and hate crimes, both online and offline, in Spain, bringing together successful experiences of experts from different fields such as non-formal education, activism, politics, youth, and government institutions, sharing and collecting educational and awareness tools and testing them with youth and youth professionals, and advocating for legislative improvements against any kind of discrimination and incitement to hate at the national level. "

José Ángel Ponce has added that "this project will also provide training opportunities for 120 professionals from all over Spain who work with young people (in particular youth workers, leisure time facilitators and teachers) to build skills for educational processes and awareness actions on issues such as racism, Islamophobia, hate speech and hate crimes. "

Ponce stressed that "subsequently, an in-depth learning experience on the aforementioned topics will be offered to more than 1300 young people from all over Spain in a non-formal creative, inclusive and participatory educational environment."

For its part, from Cazalla Intercultural, Tea Stanic, explained that "this project is funded by the program of Rights, Equality and Citizenship (REC) of the European Union and co-financed with 241,000 euros, and will last for two years, from January of this year until January 2022 ".

And they added that "Cazalla Intercultural will coordinate the project with the collaboration of the association" Joves Solides "of Valencia and the" Al Fanar "Foundation of Madrid and with the support of the City of Lorca.

Young people will participate in the process of planning and implementing actions and awareness campaigns on the subject and will become multipliers of the movements against incitement to hate and racism in Spain by organizing a minimum of 26 local actions online / offline and a great national awareness campaign.

They have also pointed out that "another of the actions of the project will be the organization of a National Youth Forum, to continue sharing, debating and planning actions in different parts of Spain and raising awareness among more young people about the aforementioned issues. In addition, Young people themselves will develop policy recommendations in the field of the prevention of racism, Islamophobia, hate speech and hate crimes in Spain and will establish a direct dialogue with policy makers. "

Finally, some of the main results of the project will become a manual with a compilation of best practices in education against racism, Islamophobia and expressions of hate online / offline in different educational settings, based on a non-formal educational approach and a series of comics for young people on how to prepare actions and awareness campaigns on the same topics.
