IU-Verdes asks for clarification of the situation of a macrocebar at 300 meters from the CP Virgen de las Huertas (28/02/2020)

Councilwoman Gloria Martín explained that it is an operation that has been out of operation for almost two years, so she would have lost her activity license.

The reform works could be being executed without the corresponding building permit, since notifications have not even been made to the neighboring neighbors, which has prevented them from submitting allegations to the project and has left them in the utmost helplessness

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes in the City of Lorca, has asked explanations to the councilor of Urbanism and Environment, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, for the works of reform of a macrocebadero in the hamlet of Cazalla, just 300 meters from the public school Virgin of the Huertas.

This is an operation that has been out of operation for almost two years, so he would have lost his activity license.

The works could also be running without the corresponding works license, since notifications have not even been made to neighboring neighbors, which has prevented them from submitting allegations to the project and has left them "in utter defenselessness."

Martín explained that some affected neighbors have made consultations in Urban Planning and that, both the responsible councilor and the technicians, have confirmed these extremes, as well as that the farm would be affected by a moratorium established after the approval of the General Plan in 2003, by the that their owners had a period of fifteen years to transfer the operation and thus comply with the distances established in the regulations.

On this issue, the councilwoman of IU-Verdes explained that on July 4, 2019 he requested written information on the degree of compliance with the transitional regime for these farms "without having yet responded."

The councilwoman of IU-Verdes said she did not understand how, despite these alleged irregularities, the works continue their course "normally" and that even the hoppers for feed have already been installed.

For this reason, he demanded a pronouncement by the City Council because "no matter how much they say that no pig is going to enter, everything is almost ready for the macrocebadero to resume the activity before the indignation of the neighbors."

Martín also denounced that next to the exploitation, a raft of slurries of considerable dimensions has been excavated, just 50 meters from a family home.

In addition, the mayor of IU-Greens has had access to some photographs showing asbestos remains, a carcinogenic material whose use has been banned in our country since 2002. In fact, despite the renovation works, the roof of The two ships are still made of this material.

In this regard, the councilor has lamented the "risk conditions" to which the workers have been exposed, so she has asked the City Council to require the promoter of the Work Plan in operations with asbestos risk, which is bound by Royal Decree 396/2006 of March 31 to preserve the safety and health of workers directly involved.

This exploitation was already the subject of a complaint by IU-Verdes in 2017 when the existence of corpses was found to be "simple holes in the ground", unsealed rafts that oozed detritus and cultivated fields of slurry.

On that occasion, Martín also detected that the supply of water for the animal supply came, as it seems to be the case, from the network of the Irrigation Community of Lorca.

Therefore, it has also required Urban Planning to verify the sources of water supply included in the project.

The councilor regretted that the municipal government team (PSOE and C's) continues to "take long" not to address the update of urban planning regulations that allow reconciling residential and livestock land use.

Meanwhile, in recent days the City Council has begun processing for the expansion of two new farms, one in the Beltrán area, in Barranco Hondo, which will go from 2,000 to 6,240 places of bait and another in the Condomina area, in the Pocico road, which will have another 2,000.
