The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has responded to the pointless criticism of the regional protocol launched last Saturday on the occasion of the levels of pollution reached in the city.

Mateos has revealed that "from other parties I would expect it, but from a party that is supposed to have been governing, or badly governing, I would expect them to know that the urgencies must be addressed at the moment they occur and an urgency is completely unpredictable and you have to take action quickly. "

The First Edil has highlighted "the work of municipal services because in just half an hour all the measures established by a protocol, regional in an Autonomous Community governed precisely by the Popular Party, were put into operation. A protocol of action with which streets were cut to the traffic of vehicles, free parking spaces were enabled both in the Pasarela Parking and in the Huerto de La Rueda and, even, a free shuttle bus was also enabled, to facilitate the displacement to the city center of all those neighbors who will park in these dissuasive car parks. "

"In addition, merchants were informed through the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations, Ceclor, the relevant publications were made both in the social networks of the City Council and through the social media."

Mateos Molina has highlighted "in just half an hour, an unpredictable and risky situation for people suffering from respiratory conditions and, therefore, he acted quickly before a new situation in Lorca, which had never occurred and has also served to learn and have that ability to respond to episodes of contamination, in this case PM10 particles, sub-Saharan dust, but which may be of other origins. "

The Mayor of Lorca has also detailed "how well the services of the environment, Local Police, Emergencies, Limusa and all those who participated in this activity have worked."

Diego José Mateos has thanked "the understanding demonstrated by all citizens and merchants who were affected and who understood the situation and, instead, what I deeply regret that it is deeply attempted to criticize and political an emergency situation that affects people's health".

The First Edil recalled that "there is a working table of air quality that is now meeting periodically, as soon as barely met and, therefore, we do not rule out any measure depending on the magnitude or severity of the episode of contamination The services will always be attentive to the measurements and the measures provided to the degree of emergency that occurs will be taken.
