The mayor of Lorca thanks Adif for the improvement work that is being carried out on the Lorca-Ãguilas railway section (04/03/2020)

"Specific actions are being carried out to improve railroad laying, as well as its drainage capacity, jobs that are carried out at night to avoid causing restrictions on rail traffic."

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, thanked the predisposition that Adif is demonstrating regarding the improvement of the rail infrastructure on the Lorca-Águilas section.

Mateos explained that "after the urgent restoration of train traffic on the Lorca-Aguilas line executed by Adif, the Railway Infrastructure Administrator, after the floods that occurred last September, now, they are taking carry out specific actions to improve the railway laying, as well as its drainage capacity, works that are carried out at night to avoid causing restrictions on rail traffic. "

The First Edil has indicated that "the most outstanding actions that are being carried out in the Lorca Sutullena Águilas section are the cleaning, restitution, opening and extension of the existing longitudinal and transversal drainage capacity in the section between Puerto Lumbreras and Almendricos; the placement of piers attached to the slopes of the railway platform for the protection of the same against water circulation; the renewal of service roads and perimeter fence of the track and the replacement and protection of signaling, safety and security cables communications affected by the temporary ".

Mateos Molina explained that "the urgent restoration work on rail traffic on the Lorca-Águilas line has included both the infrastructure: embankments, trenches and drainage works as well as the superstructure: track, and level crossing protection facilities, as well as its corresponding adaptation in anticipation of risks derived from future weather conditions ".

The mayor of Lorca has detailed that "it is an intervention that has consisted of the replacement of the damaged railway line, the conditioning of the platform and the placement of previously mounted road segments in the 54 kilometers that make up the Lorca Sutullena-Águilas section, located on the C-2 line that connects Murcia with the coastal town ".

Diego José Mateos stressed that "the investment for the recovery and improvement of the line exceeds 1.45 million euros and may be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Plurirregional Management Plan of Spain 2014-2020 within thematic Objective 7 corresponding to Sustainable Transport ".
