The Councilor for Culture in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Francisco Javier Martínez, has proposed that the City Council pay tribute to the lorquino painter Francisco Salinas Correas giving his name to the Municipal School of Plastic Arts.

It is about providing the recognition that we consider necessary to the main Lorca figures of the cultural landscape of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

We are talking about a person belonging to one of the most prominent generations in the world of painting, along with Segura Clemente, Muñoz Barberán, Joakín Ruiz, Enrique Espín and Emiliano Rojo.

From all his prolific work, his popular pen creations, which began in 1947, have acquired great notoriety. Beforehand, and coinciding with his engineering studies, he had already made other creations, also of local themes.

It was in 1955 when he made his first exhibition, in the town of Águilas, and that same year he was awarded the prize of the Mercantile Circle of Lorca and appointed artistic director of the White Step.

At that time his professional work is focused on practicing as a professor of technical drawing at the José Ibáñez Martín Institute and at the Master's School, later on, in 1979, to perform this work as a full professor at the Vocational Training Institute after Get the place as a holder.

In the development of his academic work he also served as head of studies and director of the center.

Francisco Salinas Correas was elected in 1979 councilor of the first municipal corporation of the City of Lorca representing the political formation Union of Democratic Center, collaborating in the rehabilitation of the buildings of the Conservatory of Music and the Theater War and the first works for the Museum Archaeological.

Throughout his career he participated in multiple exhibitions both individually and collectively, working pen, watercolor, oil, Chinese ink ...

He was distinguished with the Elio Prize, by the Association of Friends of Culture, as well as with the Diploma of Distinguished Services by the City Council of our city, where one of his last exhibitions took place in the Guevara Palace, being of character beneficial, in such a way that all the money raised was entirely used to contribute to the Solidarity Bureau to meet the needs of the victims of the 2011 earthquakes. It was composed of a total of 104 works, 60 pens and 44 oil paintings, created by Francisco Salinas Correas during the 2004/2014 period.

Among the works were compositions that perfectly define the artistic work of Salinas Correas as an urban landscape artist, highlighting the images of churches, squares, towers and roofs of our historic center.
