IU-Verdes Lorca asks to speed up the diagnosis of the coronavirus in Area III by involving the RX services of private clinics (26/03/2020)

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes in Lorca, Gloria Martín, has asked the manager of Area III of Health, Enrique Casado, to assess the possibility of putting at the service of the Health Department the radiodiagnosis departments of private clinics located in Lorca (3), Águilas (3), Puerto Lumbreras (2) and Totana (2).

Martín recalled that one of the tests for the early diagnosis of coronavirus pneumonia is the performance of a simple chest plate.

This implies that certain patients could see alleviated the waiting list that they are having to endure to know their state of health, which would lead them to be able to extreme, early, the means to prevent contagion.

It is also an appropriate procedure to advance treatment in more advanced and susceptible cases of aggravation.

"It is about diversifying diagnostic centers to expand the system's capacity and streamline and improve the fight against this disease," said Martín.

The IU councilor has had the opportunity to speak with some managers of these companies who have not only offered the means they have to collaborate, but have also confirmed that the radiographs taken every day could multiply exponentially.

In this way, Martín calculates that about 800 tests could be performed weekly apart from those carried out in the hospital.

"We are aware that some of these companies even have the necessary medical personnel to report these tests, and that they are willing to enable computer tools that allow the results to be transferred online to doctors in Area III," he also pointed out.

This possibility is guaranteed by Royal Decree 463/2020, which declares the state of alarm for the management of the coronavirus crisis, which allows "intervention" by private health centers.

The intervention of private health to put it at the service of the National Health System is a measure of "enormous significance" that, however, "will not do any good if it is not applied," said Martín.

In this sense, he recalled that it is the health advisers of the autonomous communities who can have "all the necessary means" of the private system to face the epidemic.
