Lorca donates 25 tablets to nursing homes to "shorten distances" between users and their families during confinement (02/04/2020)

Specifically, these are 10 tablets purchased by the City Council and 15 donated by Media Markt Lorca.

All with the aim that older people who are confined in the residences of the municipality can communicate with their loved ones safely.

The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has reported the donation of 25 tablets to residences for the elderly in the municipality with the aim of "closing the gap" between users and their families.

Mateos explained that "from the Municipal Council, through the departments of Health and New Technologies, we are going to deliver 25 tablets to the three residences for elderly people that we have in Lorca to promote communication between users and their families as many of them have not seen their loved ones for nearly a month due to the suspension of visits to prevent the coronavirus from spreading. "

The First Councilor has detailed that "specifically, there are 25 devices, 10 purchased by the City Council and 15 donated by the Media Markt company that will be delivered to the residences for the elderly Domingo Sastre, San Diego and Caser."

Mateos Molina has indicated that "it is a joint initiative carried out between the Consistory and the store with which Media Markt has in our city" and announced that "we continue to work to get more tablets and to increase the number of devices and shorten the distances between families at which, due to the state of alarm, it is not possible to visit their elders ".

The Mayor of Lorca has remarked that "the objective of this initiative of 'video visits', which will be supervised by the staff of each center, is to bring our elders closer to their families. We are talking about a group of the population that makes up a large part of the group of risk more serious if the contagion by coronavirus took place and for this purpose, to guarantee their safety and that of all, the confinement of the patients is established but not for this reason the lack of communication ".

Diego José Mateos wanted to "thank the collaboration of the Media Markt company for participating in the initiative by donating these 15 devices that will allow our elders and their loved ones to communicate and see each other, even through a screen, so using the new technologies and video calls we wanted to do our bit to make these days more enjoyable until the time comes to visit and hug.
