It is a work in which the Cava Brothers have masterfully materialized the characteristics that both sculptors have been gradually embodying in all their previous works: the ascription to the style of the Murcian Baroque imaginary school, but purifying it of different mannerisms that are Over the centuries they adhered, creating new compositions and providing the special finesse and slenderness that already characterize the Cava Brothers' modeling, features and folding of cloths.

The La Hornacina Award was created in January 2006 as a result of a survey carried out by those responsible for the portal www.lahornacina.com among their Internet users in order to choose the best sacred sculpture from among all those presented throughout the year.

Given the great participation of the public in the survey and the enthusiasm shown by the sculptors whose works participated in it, it was decided to create an award that would have continuity and fulfill two objectives: contribute to the dissemination of the art of imagery and grant modest recognition to the creators who make it possible.

As of its III edition, the award included the assessment of an art historian, accredited expert in sacred sculpture, who decides what, in his opinion, is the best sculpture among those presented in La Hornacina throughout the year.

This decision has fallen this year on the work "Virgen del Carmen" for Huelva, a work by the Alicante sculptor Ramón Cuenca Santo, who has numerous works carved for the Region of Murcia.

The La Hornacina Prize will consist this year of some sterling silver plates that the authors will receive on behalf of all the Internet users of the portal, a fact that will be inscribed on them together with the names of the artists and the sculpture of "Our Lady of the Aurora ", the first great woodwork by the Cava Brothers in their promising professional career.

In this latest edition, those responsible for the portal intend to deliver it in Lorca to the awarded work, on a date yet to be determined due to the preventive measures established by the COVID-19 pandemic.
