The municipal spokesman for IU-V in the City of Lorca, Pedro Sosa, has come to the step of the indecent and speculative price escalation that is occurring in basic goods of basic health need, in the face of the crisis we are suffering, such as masks , alcoholic hydrogel and gloves.

According to Sosa, Royal Decree-Law 7/2020, of March 13, which declares the state of alarm throughout the country, enables the Government of Spain to resort to the mechanism for fixing the prices of products necessary for the protection of population health, setting the maximum amount of sale to the public of medicines and other health products such as those mentioned, which are not subject to medical prescription.

And, adds the Councilor, all this in order to guarantee their adequate and non-speculative access to citizens and fight with justice against the expansion of COVID-19 in our country.

Sosa maintains that in recent days he has been able to personally verify how some shops in Lorca and also some pharmacies sold these products at absolutely exorbitant prices.

On the other hand, the councilor of IU-V adds that the General Council of Official Colleges of Pharmacists has already shown its willingness to "guarantee equal access to the 47 million Spaniards, distributing facemasks at zero margin. That is, without any profit or benefit for the pharmacy, under the conditions and prices set by the Government. "

For this reason, and given that the 22,000 pharmacies that exist in Spain constitute a health resource of the first magnitude, the most numerous that exists in Spain, which does not require an appointment or a waiting list, the logical thing would be to urgently adopt this measure price control.

And that is why we ask the Mayor of Lorca to take no longer to address this demand to the Government of Spain.

On the other hand, Sosa has described as rascals all those people, companies, intermediaries, unscrupulous suppliers or speculators who seek to take advantage of the health, economic and social tragedy that we are experiencing.

For this reason, it also requests that officials from the Department of Health and Consumer Affairs of the City of Lorca carry out price control functions for these products in the establishments of Lorca itself, if necessary, and following the marketing chain of these first-class products. necessity, those who are speculating with them could be individualized and punished.
