The City Council of Lorca asks the CARM for speed in processing the dining room scholarships, processed for a month (15/04/2020)

María Dolores Chumillas insists that "from the first moment in Social Services, direct aids to families were launched to cover food needs."

The Councilor for Social Services of the City of Lorca, María Dolores Chumillas, has demanded the regional government and its president, Fernando López Miras, speed in the processing of dining room scholarships, some aid that depends on the Autonomous Community, "in a situation in which this money is essential for the care of minors from vulnerable families. "

Chumillas has indicated that "the financial amount corresponding to these scholarships has not yet reached the City Council, so from the Consistory itself we have had to advance it to be able to attend to all the minor beneficiaries who, despite the fact that there is no school, continue to receive this service "

The Edil has stated that "this morning we have sent this request by letter to the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, in which we have conveyed our concern about this matter."

Chumillas Martínez has reiterated that "what we could not allow is that, due to this delay in the arrival of the aid, these minors were left unattended, so that, from the first days, from the first moment in Social Services they were put in Direct aid to families is launched to cover food needs in order to also attend to them in the period of alarm, not only covering food needs but also with clothes, toiletries and cleaning of houses where they live with their families "

The Councilor for Social Services has recalled that "currently there are 132 families who are welcomed in our municipality to the aid of dining room scholarships in addition to about fifty children who correspond directly to Social Services."

María Dolores Chumillas has recognized that "these are difficult times in which the City Councils are facing exceptional expenses, in which we cannot skimp when it comes to the health and safety of our neighbors, but it is not logical that we have to pay for services that they report directly to the regional administration ".
