The direct involvement of the President of the Regional Government, Fernando López Miras, and the commitment of the Ministry of Public Works, which requested that the work not be stopped due to safety concerns, have led to the project registering notable progress in its execution.

This is an action that involves 3.6 million euros of investment by CARM.The Councilor for Works in the Lorca City Council for the Popular Party, Ángel Meca, has stressed that the commitment of the Regional Government and our President Fernando López Miras to continue with the execution of the works of section 2 of the evacuation round constitute a very positive decision for our municipality.

Thanks to this, and to the work decided by the Ministry of Public Works, the execution of the project continues, registering notable progress in its execution.

In fact, over the last few days, outstanding progress has been made in the construction of the infrastructure more highlighted within what was planned for section 2 of the round,such as the bridge that will cross the bed of the Guadalentín river and that will connect both banks starting from the vicinity of the Felipe VI sports complex until reaching Santa Clara Avenue.We are talking about one of the most important, ambitious and practical works within the investment program that our city is receiving thanks to the financial commitment of the Regional Government.

The works on this second section involve an investment of 3.6 million euros, and include the construction of a bridge over the Guadalentín river, 116 meters long and 21.5 wide.Ángel Meca has stated that the degree of execution of the contract has already exceeded 50%, despite the current difficult situation.

We must highlight that the placement tasks of all the prefabricated beams necessary for the construction of the bridge over the Guadalentín have been completed, and currently the tasks are focused on the execution of the pre-slab, to finish the deck.

This bridge has the particularity of being the first with a central "V" shaped pile in the Region.For the construction of the new bridge, 116 meters in length, it has been necessary to install four beams of 33.5 meters in length and weighing 180 tons each, in addition to another four of 22.5 meters and 160 tons each one, with a width of 5 meters.

This infrastructure will guarantee circulation even in times of heavy rain, when the passage of water through the river bed causes the road to be cut off.

The works of section 2 will also increase the drainage capacity in the event of floods, through the construction of three bays.Along with the aforementioned bridge, a new roundabout is being built at the intersection on the Camino de Cartagena and the speed bump of the Guadalentín river, and a traffic light intersection will be set up at its connection with Santa Clara Avenue to facilitate all movements.

All services will also be replaced, some 40 LED luminaires and almost 200 trees will be installed.Section 2 of the evacuation round will improve road safety and city traffic, because it will give fluidity to existing traffic, which involves the passage of 7,000 vehicles a day.

In this way, vehicle traffic will be decongested, especially through the city center, and Lorca will be provided with an alternative route of special and marked importance to channel traffic and that in emergency situations, such as the 2011 earthquakes, will not road communications collapse.This specific work represents a real turning point in the development of large urban infrastructures that are allowing people from Lorca to have truly modern, functional and practical services and communications.

We are achieving that the projects that just a few years ago were a dream, and seemed more like a chimera than a reality, today have jumped from paper to work, and what were previously nothing more than strokes on a sheet, today They are highways, parks and green areas that enhance and improve our city.The importance of the central round as a way of travel for Lorca is extraordinary, since we are going to be able to cross our city from end to end without having to overload the urban area, making it possible for all citizens to enjoy smooth and comfortable traffic, through safer roads and really prepared to channel the high number of vehicles that use them periodically.

This work is going to change Lorca, promoting a historic improvement in communications, while we have achieved a design that minimizes the effects on housing and public infrastructure.

As an example of added benefits to this project, we must mention that the construction of a roundabout will end the problems of crossing with the Camino de Cartagena,an enclave of high traffic that will gain security.The second section of the round is located precisely in one of the urban areas that are benefiting the most from the city improvement works projected by the Popular Party, given that in this area there are also sections of Ronda, the Santa Quiteria Fair and Congress Center, the remodeled Felipe VI sports complex, the new logistics center in Limusa, as well as the comprehensive urban renewal of the Virgen de las Huertas and Santa Quiteria neighborhoods, as the main examples of firm commitment that we are materializing to achieve a better city.
