The Mayor of Lorca asks the President of the CARM to speed up the payment to suppliers in order to face the economic situation caused by the coronavirus (17/04/2020)

Likewise, in the videoconference held this morning among all the mayors, Diego José Mateos, has also requested that facilities be set up to welcome people who have contracted the virus and who have to isolate themselves from their families so as not to infect them. The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, participated this morning in the videoconference that the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, maintains every week with the mayors of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia. The Mayor of Lorca has reiterated that "these meetings serve to show us how the situation of our municipalities is in this health crisis, as well as to share the problems that we are encountering day by day in the management of this situation, in addition to making our proposals and requests to the regional government with the aim of being able to continue facing the crisis caused by the coronavirus.

" As for those requests that the First mayor made today to the head of the regional executive, there is, on the one hand, the ability to enable spaces in the municipality of Lorca for those people infected by the virus and who have to isolate themselves from their families to keep them away from the disease, and has given as an example, "the facilities of the International Beach Volleyball Center that already function as a residence for the health workers of the Rafael Méndez hospital who, once their workday is over, move here so as not to return to their homes, a center Currently, it is already hosting fifteen toilets.

" On the other hand, the mayor has proposed to the president of the Community the streamlining of payment to suppliers, just as we have done from the Consistory, with a first injection of liquidity amounting to 840,000 euros for the payment of almost 400 invoices for all professional sectors to more than 300 suppliers with whom we work from the City Council, in addition to the approval in the telematic plenary session held last week of 1.5 million euros for the payment of 528 invoices from previous years, through extrajudicial recognition and which are allowing more than 120 providers to collect money for a service they provided or work they performed.

" In this sense, the First mayor has asked López Miras that from the Community the mechanisms be enabled so that the providers who are pending the payment of some type of service or work, receive that money that can help them mitigate, somehow, the effects that this health crisis is causing them directly if we are talking about self-employed workers, or a company, many of which have had to apply ERTES among their staff. Mateos Molina hopes that "the president of the CARM will be sensitive with these proposals that will help us to continue facing this health crisis, on the one hand, maintaining the low levels of contagion that we have in Lorca, and on the other hand, that injection of money that may to enable companies, especially the self-employed and SMEs, to continue developing their work ".
