The City Council of Lorca works to fix the roads that were damaged by the heavy rains this Sunday (20/04/2020)

This small localized storm unloaded yesterday afternoon with violence in some areas of the municipality, such as the hamlets of Campillo and La Torrecilla, where between 16 and 18 liters of water were registered in a few minutes.The Councilor for Emergencies and Local Development of the City of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero, has taken stock, this morning, of the rains that unloaded yesterday afternoon on the municipality of Lorca, after supervising some of the areas most affected by the amount of water that fell in a few minutes in the form of a storm, to check the state of various roads.Isabel Casalduero explained that "it was about small localized storms that violently discharged in some areas, in some cases with hail, discharging the water in a few minutes and causing rambles and land to flood."Casalduero Jódar visited the same Sunday afternoon with the mayor, Diego José Mateos, and the councilor for Citizen Security, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, some of these most affected areas, located in the hamlets of Campillo and La Torrecilla, where in some points they fell between 16 and 18 liters.The councilor added that "because of these storms small floods occurred in some plots and some dragging that hindered the normal circulation of various roads and crossroads due to the proximity of boulevards, such as the case of the Zahurdas Road, the Venta del Gitano where the promenade had to be cut off to traffic, the La Alberquilla II road, which was full of water and reaching the homes and in the Torrecilla area where dragging was also registered, problems that were rectified throughout the afternoon and that they were restored in the late afternoon.

"According to the mayor of Emergencies, there were also "slight detachments on the wall of a house in the Barrio San Cristóbal, which is why Civil Protection and the Local Police were vigilant in order to minimize the damage."In addition, among the notices received by the municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service, the drainage work that had to be carried out in a house in La Torrecilla stands out, a woman had to be helped by her neighbors to get out of the rambla of the Hospital (Casas from Uñate, where she had been trapped.

We also proceeded to unblock some areas of the Bujarque Canal, behind Amalthea, which was about to overflow.Finally, Casalduero has detailed that according to data recorded at the municipal meteorological stations, 5 mm were collected in Los Morotes and 3.6 mm in Ramonete; while the rain gauges of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation recorded 3 mm in the Puentes Reservoir; in Lorca (city) 6 mm of which 2.2 mm fell in just 5 minutes, between 5:25 PM and 5:30 PM; Escarihuela area: 17 mm of which 7.2 mm did it from 5:45 pm to 5:55 pm; and in Ramonete 2 mm.
