The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has taken stock, this morning, of the income recorded in the 'Solidarity Account', enabled by the Lorca City Council, to channel all the aid that is being received at the Consistory and which is going destined to mitigate the effects of the health crisis that we are facing in recent weeks. Diego José Mateos recalled that "from the first moment in this 'Solidarity Account', enabled since March 26, all contributions from neighbors, neighbors, individuals and companies are being collected, thanks to which, among others, acquiring sanitary material, personal protective equipment (PPE), food for people in vulnerable situations, and mobile devices to make this period of confinement easier for users of nursing homes in our municipality and for groups such as Apandis and Asprodes " . Mateos stressed that "complying with the principle of transparency with which we are committed in every way in the Consistory and with which this solidarity initiative was also born, since its opening they have received 51,490.65 euros, of which 7,360 euros correspond to donations made by individuals, 21,930.65 euros from associations and groups and 12,200 euros to contributions from companies, in addition to the 10,000 euros of the first contribution made to the account from the municipal council itself ". The First mayor explained that "thanks to all these contributions, the municipality of Lorca has allocated more than 48,600 euros for the acquisition of sanitary and protection material for health professionals in the municipality's health centers, the Sutullena SUAP, the Rafael Méndez hospital and nursing homes, to security and essential services workers, up to a total of 30,000 masks, 33,000 gloves, 20,000 screens and protective visors, 1,200 gowns, 5,400 leggings and shoe covers, 1,800 hats and 100 divers; for the purchase of material for the manufacture of masks by neighbors who are collaborating with the solidarity initiative; infrared thermometers, fumigators,removable roofs for health centers and cleaning products for the disinfection of materials and infrastructure ". The mayor added that "in addition, thanks to the collaboration of hundreds of residents, 20,000 screens and protective visors and another 20,000 cotton cloth masks have been made that have been distributed in pharmacies, companies and shops." It should be remembered that the account: ES29 2038 5757 1968 0006 5018 continues to be active and the mayor reiterates that "we will be very grateful to anyone who wants to continue to contribute their grain of sand to this cause, to the extent of their possibilities, as we are with everyone those who have already done so, people, groups and companies that, within their possibilities, are contributing and demonstrating, as I always say, the solidarity of the people of Lorca, always ready to help those who need it most, whether they be our health workers so that they can continue to face the coronavirus from the front line, or our elders who are in residences and who, thanks to new technologies, can feel a little closer to their families.
