This initiative, Collective Reading of 'Tales by phone' has had the collaboration of friends of books and libraries such as councilors, journalists, teachers, writers, students and children who have lent their voice and image and who will give away their stories. The Councilor for Education and Library of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez, has reported on the collective reading initiative launched by the Consistory on the occasion of International Book Day that is commemorated tomorrow, April 23. Pérez explained that "on the occasion of this commemoration from the City of Lorca we join this celebration through the Network of Municipal Libraries with different activities since, although our libraries are physically closed, we have worked to continue the work of dissemination cultural and leisure ". The Edil has detailed that "to celebrate in a special way this day so marked, various activities have been organized around some of the literary ephemerides that are celebrated this year 2020, such as the centenary of the birth of the Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti, enjoying the reading of some of his poems with the voices of the Espartaria Poetic Group, storytelling by the library staff, as well as a special tribute to the important writer Gianni Rodari and his children's stories, when they celebrate 100 years of his birth ". The Library Councilor has indicated that "for this, the Collective Reading initiative of 'Tales by phone' has been launched, a short selection of the stories of Gianni Rodari for which the generous collaboration of friends of books has been enlisted and libraries such as councilors, journalists, teachers, writers, students and children who have lent us their voices and images and who will give away their stories.
" In addition, Antonia Pérez recalled that "through social networks, the public library provides us with ideas, resources and suggestions for reading and cinema, for children, youth and adults and even more in this situation of confinement."
