Lorca City Council estimates between 3 and 6 million euros the reduction in municipal revenues due to the coronavirus crisis (23/04/2020)

"Despite this situation, the City Council will make every effort possible and will not skimp on implementing all the necessary measures.

And just as it is going to happen from the local and state governments, we ask that the regional government put the means to help reduce the economic effects.

" The Councilor for Finance of the Lorca City Council, Isidro Abellán, has reported the data of the study of municipal economic affection due to the coronavirus. Abellán explained that "due to the health emergency situation derived from the international pandemic outbreak caused by the Covid-19 virus, on March 14 the Government of the Nation declared a state of alarm and, with it, the interruption of activity of a large number of freelancers and companies.

" El Edil has indicated that "this paralysis has caused the report of the International Monetary Fund to estimate that the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, national will suffer a decrease of 8 percent.

Meanwhile, the General Council of Economists and the Registry of Fiscal Advisers Economists estimate in a 5 percent the fall of the economy in Spain.

A context that will inevitably also affect a considerable decrease of the income in the consistories ". Abellán Chicano has detailed that "from the Department of Finance of the Lorca City Council we have already made a first estimate of the economic effects and the most optimistic scenario places the reduction in municipal revenues at more than three million euros, a figure that could even exceed six million euros.

" The Councilor for Finance has remarked that "despite this situation, the City Council will make every effort possible and will not skimp on implementing all the necessary measures.

And just as it will happen from the local governments and state, we ask that the regional government put the means to help reduce the economic effects produced by this health emergency situation.

" Isidro Abellán has revealed that "from the City Council we have initiated a round of contact with all the economic, social and cultural sectors of the city with the aim of evaluating the situation and, jointly, implementing measures and aid, reducing rates and taxes and, ultimately, work to facilitate the return, little by little, to normality and to minimize the impact of the situation on our merchants and our hoteliers.
