The City Council of Lorca expresses its condolences for the death of the former mayor of the city, Leoncio Collado (26/04/2020)

He was also councilor of Health, Consumption, Tourism and Crafts of the consistory, and spokesman for the government team, positions that he combined with his profession as a doctor specializing in family and community medicine. The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has lamented the death, this Saturday at 71, of the former mayor of the municipality, Leoncio Collado Rodríguez, between August 2006 and June 2007. The First mayor stressed that "taking into account his career and the services provided to the citizens of Lorca as councilor, first, and as mayor of the City of Lorca, later, his professional consideration, his recognized prestige and broad social recognition, means an irreparable loss.

" Diego José Mateos added that "this is sad news for this municipality and all its citizens and we want to convey the sorrow of this Municipal Corporation to its family, friends and close friends, and ultimately to the entire City". Mateos Molina, after consulting with all the municipal groups of the Lorca municipality, has issued a Mayor's decree which will decree three days of official mourning in which, in addition, the flags of the municipal buildings will wave at half-mast as a sign of mourning and respect. Leoncio Collado Rodríguez was born in 1949, had a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Murcia, was married and had two children.

Since 2003 he was councilor of Health, Consumption, Tourism and Crafts of the Lorca City Council, he also held the position of spokesman for the Government team, a position that he combined with his work as a doctor specializing in family and community medicine, until in 2006 he replaced in the position to the then mayor Miguel Navarro Molina.

In addition, he was secretary general of the Lorca socialists between 2004 and 2008. Once the first political line was abandoned, he regained his health activity that he had been exercising until his last days, and he was also a talk show host on current municipal politics in different local media.
