Lorca asks to "go in a staggered way" to avoid crowds in pharmacies when picking up masks for people over 65 (27/04/2020)

The Councilor for Health calls for the avoidance of crowds in these health facilities and warns of the importance of family members, and not the elderly, moving in stages to collect disposable masks delivered free of charge by the Department of Health. The Councilor for Health in the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has reported that from this Monday, April 27, two masks per person will be available to people over 65, which can be purchased, free of charge, through of the health card in any pharmaceutical establishment in the municipality. Ponce has asked that "when traveling to these establishments for the acquisition of these free masks, it should be done with caution, in a staggered way to avoid 'crowds' inside and in the vicinity of these health establishments and, of course, continue to maintain the necessary social distance and avoid social contact.

" The Edil has insisted on the importance of "family members, and not people over 65, who go to these establishments to acquire this material" and recalled that "each person over 65 will receive two masks through of the electronic prescription, which may also be collected by relatives showing the interested party's health card.

" Ponce Díaz has reiterated that "the regulations and recommendations to maintain the necessary isolation of people at risk, such as the elderly" are still in force and we cannot, and should not, let our guard down, so we insist on continuing to protect this collective so vulnerable to the Covid-19 ". The Councilor for Health highlighted "the initiative of the Ministry of Health for this group to have access to this material" and thanked "the special collaboration of the group of pharmacists in the municipality of Lorca and the Region of Murcia, who will facilitate this work so important and necessary.

" José Ángel Ponce also wanted to remember that "the mask delivered is of a 'surgical' type and, therefore, 'disposable', and as the Health Ministry itself warns, using a mask does not replace the established preventive measures, that is, maintain adequate safety distance, carry adequate hand hygiene or use disposable handkerchiefs when coughing or sneezing. In addition, before and after use, hand cleaning must be extreme and, of course, the number of hours indicated by the manufacturer, which for the type of mask is usually not more than 8 hours.
