The Virgen del Alcázar Hospital donates 25 beds to equip African hospitals (28/04/2020)

| The Monrovia (Liberia) and Lunsar (Sierra Leone) hospitals will be recipients of the 25 beds donated by the Lorca hospital | In addition, 8 stretchers have been donated that will travel to Koforidua (Ghana)The collaboration between Juan Ciudad ONGD, the Cosoltrans Group and the Virgen del Alcázar Hospital has made it possible to transfer 25 hospital beds, 17 mattresses and 8 stretchers to Madrid for subsequent shipment to the aforementioned centers in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana.This collaboration has been possible thanks to the intercession of Rosa Barnés Romero, notary of Puerto Lumbreras, and Marina Ibarra, who know volunteers in Africa closely and who have put these organizations in contact to carry out the transfer of the material.The Virgen del Alcázar Hospital is currently renovating its beds and the possibility of donating those that are being replaced was raised, since they are articulated hospital beds, mattresses and stretchers that are in good condition.Thanks to the intervention of Rosa Barnés and Teresa Romero, director of Manos Unidas Murcia, Juan Ciudad ONGD and Grupo Cosoltrans have been contacted to bring these beds to much-needed African hospitals.The collaboration of the Cosoltrans Group, a transport company located in the Saprelorca industrial estate, has been essential for its transport to Madrid.Its manager, Antonio Díaz Molina, did not hesitate to make a trailer available for this cause to move the beds to the NGDO headquarters in Madrid, fully bearing the costs.For his part, Juan Ciudad ONGD is a Non-Governmental Organization for Development created by the Hospital Order of San Juan de Dios in Spain in 1991.This NGDO works in the social and health field from international cooperation, paying special attention to the right to health and promoting access for all people to socio-health care services, its sphere of action being the most disadvantaged regions on the planet.They will be in charge of getting the beds to the destination hospitals.
