The parish priest and the Royal Virgen de las Huertas Brotherhood of Lorca have decided to donate to Cáritas the money collected during the Jubilee Year that they have celebrated, granted by the Holy See to this parish sanctuary on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the canonical coronation of the patron saint of Lorca, which started on March 17, 2019.Faced with the current crisis situation, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the pastor of Nuestra Señora la Real de las Huertas, Miguel Ángel Alarcón, explains that "the entire city wants to shelter under the protection of its patron saint." The donations that have been made during this jubilee amount to a total of 4,545 euros and will go to Cáritas Lorca "for the most urgent needs that the city may need," says the priest.The closing of this Jubilee Year, scheduled for March 22, could not be carried out.

For the president of this brotherhood, Isabel Giménez, the patron saint is "a symbol of union between the people of Lorca", therefore, it is "an enormous sadness" that the programmed events could not have been held, although she assures that they will be carried out "when the situation permit.
