Looije donates a ton of "Sarita" cherry tomato to solidarity organizations in Lorca (07/05/2020)

Looije, the aquiline company specialized in the marketing of cherry tomatoes, has donated, through a collaboration with the City of Lorca, more than a ton of 'Sarita', the main brand of the company, to different associations and labor entities social of the lorquino municipality.

Among them are the nursing homes Domingo Sastre, San Diego and Caser Alameda; the Association of Parents with Children with Intellectual Disabilities of the Comarca of Lorca, Apandis; the Asprodes Center; El Buen Camino, a Christian association that helps people at risk of social exclusion or with drug addiction problems; the Convent of Las Clarisas; the interparroquial delegation of Cáritas; and the Municipal Shelter of Lorca.The collection of those more than a thousand kilos of round cherry tomato and pear type took place yesterday, Wednesday, May 6, at the Looije Águilas facilities in the 'El Labradorcico' Industrial Estate.

There, the general director of OP Looije, Juan José López, received Antonia Pérez, councilor for Equality, Diversity and Education of the Lorca City Council, the institution responsible for the distribution and distribution of the donated product; Irene Jódar, mayor of Public Transport and Mobility, Sports and Transparency; and Manuel Fernández, mayor of Ramonete.This is not the first such action by the agricultural company since the start of the coronavirus crisis.

Not surprisingly, in recent weeks, donations have also been made to different food banks in Cartagena, Murcia and Madrid.

Likewise, and independently, some of the producers that make up OP Looije, such as Recuerdo de Sabor (Mazarrón) or Looije Águilas, have also carried out their own initiatives, such as delivering prevention materials and equipment to Reina hospitals Sofía de Murcia and Los Arcos in San Javier or the donation of product samples to the health workers of the Puerto de Mazarrón health center.Looije in SpainOriginating in the Netherlands in the 1940s, Looije came to Spain in 1998, in search of the Sun that the northern sky denied him during the winter months.

The company grew progressively until joining in 2010 the Looije SL Producers' Organization, formed today by a dozen associates.

Currently, operating completely independently of its Dutch sister, Looije has increased its production to reach 7,000,000 kg of cherry tomato per year and has registered a turnover of over 13,000,000 euros in the last twelve months.
