The PP proposes a tourist reactivation campaign (08/05/2020)

| Offering 700 vouchers in hotel accommodation in the municipality to professionals in the social emergency operation against the coronavirus | • The popular groups point out that this initiative would help the sector to cushion the negative effects of the COVID-19 crisis, and would attract groups of tourists to our municipality who would not otherwise come to Lorca. The objective is for hoteliers and merchants to benefit from the economic movement and the synergies linked to the arrival of visitorsThe Councilor for Tourism in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Francisco Javier Martínez, has proposed that the City Council undertake a campaign to reactivate and encourage the tourism sector in our town with the aim of counteracting the negative effects of the economic crisis and social caused by COVID-19 are having against this area of ??our productive fabric.

The City Council is responsible for betting on tourism in a particularly decisive way, since we are talking about a group that contributes to the stimulation of other areas, with special positive effects on small and medium-sized businesses and hotels. This is a new fully constructive measure that we propose from our LORCA RESPONDE Plan to combat the damage to the productive fabric that is causing the COVID-19 crisis.Francisco Javier Martínez has indicated as a concrete initiative of municipal action, the acquisition by the City Council of a first package of 700 bonds in hotels and rural houses of our municipal term for distribution among the members of the bodies and security forces of the State, National Police, Civil Guard, Military and professionals in the health sector, among other components of the special emergency operation, which are the groups that have remained on the front line of work at all times.

We are talking about the people who are truly risking the fight against the coronavirus, to whom we owe not only words of gratitude, but also recognition through this gesture. From the PP they have stated that thanks to the acquisition and promotion of these bonds, Lorca would receive in the short and medium term a considerable influx of tourists that otherwise could not be achieved, and we would help professionals and freelancers who develop their work in the tourism, hospitality and commercial sector.

The objective is to avoid at all costs the "break" that this crisis is going to cause in the sector, at the same time that we reward essential service professionals in the Region of Murcia.

We must remember that these workers can already move between municipalities.

This initiative could also be opened in the medium term to professionals from other provinces, as the current restrictions are lifted.Francisco Javier Martínez has highlighted that our municipality currently offers a wide offer in this regard, which includes tourist homes and apartments, 8 hotel establishments, two rural guesthouses and a very interesting battery of 21 rural houses.

These establishments would be incentivized with the purchase by the City Council of the aforementioned bonds, to which we request that another 200 be added to enjoy the municipal network of hostels, which includes those of Coy (Casa Grande), Valdeinfierno (Casa Iglesias ) and Punta de Calnegre. In parallel to this initiative, we propose that access to the Castle, Synagogue and guided tours be free until the end of the year in order to encourage visitors to choose Lorca for their weekend or holiday getaways.

Thus, we would also have added value to attract people who move to the beaches of our nearby municipalities in the coming months. It should be noted that the tourist who arrives in Lorca, with either of the two previous initiatives, always generates consumption and economic movement, elements that especially now are more necessary than ever.

After all that we have worked from municipalism to shore up our objective of economic diversification, now the City Council has to step forward and demonstrate that it is committed to its people.
