The City Council of Lorca will insist on vigilance for the mandatory use of masks in public transport (18/05/2020)

The mayor, Diego José Mateos, recalled that "in recent weeks, different distributions of protection material have also been carried out by the Local Police and the municipal Emergency Service among railway and line bus users." The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has announced that the City Council has been insisting, in recent days, on compliance with regulations regarding the transport of agricultural workers and travelers. The Mayor of Lorca explained that "we will again carry out awareness-raising tasks among both users and drivers of these buses for the use of masks on the move, following the health recommendations that establish their mandatory use among those workers in the agricultural and livestock sector traveling on the same bus.

" Diego José Mateos recalled that in recent weeks several distributions of thousands of masks have been carried out, sent from the Government of Spain and also those that are being carried out through the solidarity initiative launched by the City Council, among these workers by the Local Police of Lorca, to which the municipal Emergency Service of Lorca has been added with the distribution of masks among users at the Bus station, as well as at the Sutullena and San train stations Diego". In addition, Mateo Molina recalled that the Local Police is controlling that the vehicles that transport workers to the field "meet the maximum number of people inside, as well as that they travel in the indicated position to avoid contagions while maintaining disinfection measures and daily sanitation.

" The First mayor has insisted on the "fundamental role that workers in the agricultural and livestock sector are having during this health crisis, they are essential for the arrival of healthy and quality food to all consumers." Lastly, the mayor wanted to thank the companies for their work in guaranteeing compliance with the regulations, guaranteeing the necessary information to their employees, maintaining safety distances between workers, organizing the entry and exit of personnel, as well as the measures of hygiene for cleaning and disinfecting common areas ". It should be remembered that in terms of transporting workers to handling centers, warehouses, farms and other work centers, they may do so in private vehicles as long as two people travel for each row of seats, maximum four people, with masks and respecting the maximum possible distance between the occupants; In nine-seater vans, two people per row of seats, maximum 6 people, can move with respiratory protection with masks and respecting the maximum possible distance between the occupants; while in buses they can do it with a maximum of 50% of the capacity,with protection of the respiratory tract with masks and respecting the maximum possible distance between the occupants and always keeping the row behind the seat occupied by the driver empty.
