The PP gets the support of the city council to demand from the Pedro Sánchez government a battery of aid for farmers and ranchers (26/05/2020)

Ángel Meca has explained that the PP's proposal to help farmers and ranchers to overcome the current situation is much broader, but we have to regret that the PSOE, Ciudadanos and IU opposed it en bloc and prevented initiatives of extraordinary importance for the primary sector of the municipalityThe councilor for Agriculture in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Ángel Meca, has reported that the PP has managed to get the city to demand that the Pedro Sánchez government establish a battery of measures to help Lorca farmers and ranchers who They are being hurt by the COVID-19 crisis.

Thus, thanks to the PP, the current central government is demanded to reduce the fiscal modules or Net Yield Indices (IRN) for farmers and ranchers, to speed up the refund of taxes, such as VAT or the hydrocarbon tax.Ángel Meca has pointed out that the PP has managed to get the city council to require Pedro Sánchez to facilitate obtaining and access to financing, through soft loans, as well as simplifying bureaucratic procedures for employers and workers in the primary sector, establishing a agricultural health card that appears collected in a database, so that professionals in the primary sector, with a single annual examination is sufficient and it is not necessary to have a new medical examination, each time they change employers. The popular councilor for Agriculture has indicated that the central government will also be asked to set up a line of aid to alleviate the increase in all expenses caused by the coronavirus, such as restrictions on mobility transport, equipment purchases of protection or investments in their farms or industries.

In the same way, we request that the workers affected by temporary employment regulation (ERTE) files be authorized to join the work of the field. From the PP, we consider it essential that a bilateral dialogue table be created that can lead to the opening of the important Russian market, ending the boycott of fruit and vegetable products.

We demand that actions, actions and negotiations be carried out that avoid the imposition of additional tariffs on our agricultural, livestock or fishing products.Ángel Meca has explained that the PP's proposal to help farmers and ranchers to overcome the current situation is much broader, but we have to regret that the PSOE, Ciudadanos and IU opposed it en bloc and prevented initiatives of extraordinary importance for the primary sector such as the promotion of the consumption of local agricultural and livestock products, as well as its shield against the importation of non-EU products. From the PP we will continue insisting despite the rejection of the PSOE, Citizens and IU because we consider it key that a Royal Decree be prepared that contemplates sufficient and necessary economic measures, which help to alleviate the dramatic situation that the cut flower sector is going through, between others:A reduction of VAT to 4%.Enable 5-year loans at 0% interest with a 2-year grace period.100% discount on Social Security contributions for 1 year. For those producers with agricultural insurance, this exceptional situation must be taken into account so that they are compensated for the economic damages suffered, as occurs when there are other climatic exceptions. That the necessary mechanisms be enabled to carry out the economic compensation for withdrawal. The relaunch of the line of aid to the Agricultural Producer Groups (APAs) to improve production, marketing and training.Request that within the "Spanish Strategy" for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post 2020, that a system of community aid be established forOperational Programs of the Organizations of Producers of Flowers and Plants, similar to the one already existing for the Organizations of Producers of Fruits and Vegetables (OPFH).Carry out a Strategy to Promote the consumption of agri-food products in the Region of Murcia.Encourage the consumption of local products, local products, carrying out promotional activities.Create a line of support for Cooperatives to encourage the consumption of cooperative products.Promote the creation of a public-private organization that manages the fruit and vegetable withdrawals from the Region of Murcia, as well as the distribution of other foods from our agri-food industry for social purposes. The damages of the COVID-19 pandemic against the primary sector are being very important, especially in places like the Region of Murcia, where this sector constitutes the main socioeconomic and job generation engine, being the fundamental axis for the regional economy, both for its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product, and for the huge number of people who depend on it.It is evident that in a situation as difficult as the one we are going through, the exercise of our political work and institutional representation cannot be reduced to mere public gratitude.

The coronavirus crisis has accentuated the importance of the primary sector and its strategic and essential nature. This is the time to step forward and respond loyally to the work performed by professionals in this area.

From the municipalism we have to help them, by means of proposals destined to cushion the effects of this crisis, trying to solve historical claims of this important sector.

It is, according to what their own workers point out, to eliminate bureaucracy, through fiscal reductions and favoring that they can access soft loans that make it easier for them to overcome this crisis.Against this background, the demonstrations of public officials must help support those who are helping society as a whole to recover from COVID-19.

What we cannot afford now, under any circumstances, are statements that constitute an attack on the sector, as well as public disqualifications, such as the one that, unfortunately, has been carried out by the current Minister of Labor, Yolanda Diaz, calling into question the work and effectiveness of professionals in the field.
