The PP requires the mayor of the PSOE to rectify his veto against sellers of textiles and footwear in the market (28/05/2020)

| And allow them to resume their work now | The government group prevents dozens of families from resuming their professional activity, which is seriously jeopardizing their economic stability, while in other municipalities they have already been able to return to work. The Councilor for Citizen Participation in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Mari Huertas García, has denounced that the mayor of the PSOE continues to prevent against all logic and without any real basis that the sellers of the textile area market have the opportunity to install their stalls, a nonsense veto that not only prohibits them from carrying out their activity in the weekly market on Thursdays in the Huerto de la Rueda, but they are also radically denied that they can install their stalls in any of the markets that are made in our districts. The unilateral decision of the mayor of the PSOE has as a direct consequence that there are dozens of Lorca families in whose homes not one euro of their salary is entering because the current government group is not doing its job.

The professionals affected by this veto of the current mayor accumulate more than two and a half months without being able to carry out the work that allows them to earn an income.

For almost a month we have been demanding from the city council that this group of professionals have the opportunity to resume their activity, as has already been happening in numerous municipalities in our country for weeks.

It is a ban that is seriously damaging these families, whose economic stability is deeply and seriously compromised due to the immobilist position of the PSOE mayor.Mari Huertas García has pointed out that from the Popular Party we managed to get the weekly market back on Thursdays, pressing before the city council and conveying the concern of the group of market vendors, and we also managed that, despite the absurd resistance of the mayor of the PSOE, the flea markets will resume.

We have been from the first moment transferring the problems of these workers, who in their practically all are freelancers and family entrepreneurs, because we share their problems and we are sensitive to the difficulties they are going through.

So much so, that the PP had to be the one who was "dragging" a government group stagnant in indolence, slowness and with an extraordinarily damaging degree of passivity in the current circumstances. From the PP we demand that the mayor of the PSOE rectify his opposition and that these professionals can reassemble their positions in the market immediately.

The stability of many Lorca houses is being played with, and that is something that we cannot allow.Mari Huertas García has also proposed that the Thursday market in the Huerto de la Rueda be adapted to new circumstances and can expand the area that it uses in this location.

We must remember that hardly a very small area of ??the Garden is used, and we request that the stalls can be located, for example, in the area that remains open, as well as in the tent that also remains empty, and even in the car park operated by Limusa in front of the mentioned enclosure.

In this way, more stalls could be installed, even more respecting the established distancing measures, and at the same time allowing all the vendors in the market to resume their activity.
