The City Council of Lorca delivers three prefabricated houses that will become health centers in the Tindouf refugee camps (Algeria) (02/06/2020)

These modular homes, which were installed next to the San Fernando neighborhood, were used by some affected by the 2011 earthquakes, while their buildings were not erected new. The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has delivered this morning, together with the councilor of Oenegés of the Lorca City Council, María Dolores Chumillas of the prefabricated houses to the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People of Lorca, to the president of this group, Antonio García Ros. The Mayor of Lorca has specified that "it is a total of three of these houses that were located next to the San Fernando neighborhood that were used by some residents affected by the earthquakes of May 2011.

Now these houses will be used as a medical office in Sahrawi refugee camps. Diego José Mateos explained that "once many of these neighbors have returned to their new homes in the Barrio de San Fernando, some of these houses were dismantled waiting for this delivery to be made and put to new use." Mateos Molina recalled that from the Consistory all the necessary steps have been taken so that the shipment of these prefabricated houses from San Fernando to the Refugee camp is carried out, "since several reports have been made to authorize us from Social Services so that these houses can be destined for hospitals and schools ". For his part, the president of the association of Friends of the Saharawi People, Antonio García Ros, thanked the donation of this material and reiterated that "these modular homes will be very useful to house a medical center and a school." It should be remembered that the City Council collaborates with the Friends of the Saharawi Association of Lorca, a few months ago it did so in the collection of medicines for the Hospital of the wilaya in El Aaiún, a city that is twinned with Lorca. In addition to collaborating with the 'Holidays in peace' program that every summer brings Sahrawi children to Lorca where, together with their host families, they spend the months of July and August, enjoying the wonderful climate, gastronomy, landscapes, and helping them to improve their health.

.

A stay that this summer will not be possible due to the sanitary situation in which we find ourselves and due to the difficulties in traveling.
