Lorca joins the celebration of World Environment Day (04/06/2020)

| With the recovery of the emblematic carob tree of the Pérez de Hita School | Diego José Mateos: "This is an action aimed at bringing the urban environment closer to citizens and schoolchildren so that they become more aware of it, promoting awareness to achieve a more sustainable city."The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Councilor for the Environment, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, have announced the celebration of World Environment Day with the planting of several specimens of plants.Mateos reported that "the City Council of Lorca in collaboration with the La Carrasca Hiking Association will organize a symbolic planting day tomorrow at the Pérez de Hita School, at 8 am, on the occasion of World Environment Day, which will celebrated on June 5, with the aim of promoting environmental awareness as well as global action to protect the environment ”.The First Councilor has detailed that "the initiative consists of planting a carob tree, the emblematic tree of the center, which had a copy at its entrance, that the inclement weather in April last year caused its fall and that now we also want replenish as well as various aromatic plants.

All in order to promote involvement and awareness of the need to conserve and preserve nature in the little ones ”.Mateos Molina has indicated that “it is an action aimed at bringing the urban environment closer to citizens and schoolchildren so that they become more aware of it, promoting awareness to achieve a more sustainable city and which is also being launched in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Gardens since the specimens belong to the municipal nursery ”.The mayor of Lorca has revealed that “the schoolchildren of the Pérez de Hita School will take care of this plantation and will monitor its growth.
