The City Council calls for solidarity from Lorca to donate blood on the day scheduled for this coming Monday (10/06/2020)

This initiative that arises from the local Police of the municipality, in collaboration with the Regional Center of Hemodonación and other Corps and Forces of Security of the State, Firemen and the municipal Service of Emergencies and Civil Protection, will take place between 9:30 and 14:30 hours at the Comprehensive Security Center. The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, presented this morning the blood donation campaign organized by the Lorca Local Police in collaboration with the Regional Hemodialysis Center and in which other Corps and State Security Forces, Fire and Service will participate Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection, scheduled for this coming Monday, June 15. The Mayor of Lorca has detailed that "for this coming Monday, June 15, the Lorca Local Police, in collaboration with the National Police, Civil Guard, Fire, Emergency and Civil Protection, has organized a day of blood donation that they extend to all the Lorca population.

It will take place in the premises of the Integrated Security Center, located in Ronda Sur, between 9:30 and 14:30.

" Diego José Mateos has pointed out that "the municipality of Lorca is in solidarity and shows it every time that the Regional Hemodonation Center makes an appeal to increase blood and derivatives reserves, a clear example we have every year in the Blood Donation Marathon that coincides with the bridge of the Constitution, dates in which it is necessary to increase reserves due to the increase in vehicle movements.

" Mateos explained that "this day is held coinciding with the World Blood Donor Day that is commemorated every June 14 and that this year it is done under the motto 'Donate blood so that the world is a healthier place', a day special designated by the 2004 World Health Assembly to thank blood donors and encourage those who have not yet donated blood to do so.

" The First mayor recalled that "the need for safe blood is universal, since it is essential in treatments and surgical interventions, it is also essential to treat the wounded during emergencies such as natural disasters and accidents." With this initiative, from the City Council of Lorca, through the Local Police and in collaboration with all other organizations, "we want to raise awareness of the worldwide need for safe blood disposal and how anyone can contribute to it.

Through this campaign we call for more people to save lives by donating blood on a regular basis.

" For her part, the head of the Regional Hemodialysis Center, Tońi Gómez, explained that "even in this situation of health crisis we have continued to count on the generosity of each and every one of the blood donors we have in the Region of Murcia". It should be remembered that, if you are a regular donor and receive a text message on your mobile inviting you to donate blood, in the centers of Murcia and Cartagena or mobile units, please go as usual and preferably at the indicated time.

If you want to donate or are not yet a donor you can go to Santa Rosa de Lima on the first and third Thursday of each month. In addition, your blood donation will be analyzed according to the tests required by the European and Spanish authorities.
