The Councilor for Local Development and Promotion of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero, has informed of the reception, this Friday, by the City Council of the paving and infrastructure improvement works carried out in the Plaza Coronela of the Church of San Pedro. The mayor of Development has detailed that "these actions had an allocation budget of € 150,105.22, carried out by the construction company Arpo SA under the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the reconstruction of the city." Isabel Casalduero has specified that "although these works began in September last year and the estimated execution time was three months, they have been delayed due to the appearance of archaeological remains and also to the situation of COVID 19 and the decree of the state of alarm. Casalduero Jódar has pointed out that "these works have consisted of the demolitions and preparation of the land, in a total area of ??the plaza of 1,750 m2; installation of public lighting with 12 new LED-type public lighting units, which means energy savings; thus such as the burial of low voltage infrastructure and telecommunications ". Regarding the pavements and pavements, 1,750 m2 of aged paving stones have been used on a concrete slab, the area of ??the old wall (black granite) and old walls of missing rooms of the church (in natural stone) have been marked with different material beige).

Finally, Isabel Casalduero has also referred to the archaeological study that had to be done of the remains that appeared under the plaza, the old castle wall and the old dependencies of the church, which after being discovered, were studied, cataloged and protected before cover them again with the completion of the required reports.
