The PP confirms that no regulation requires the closing of the "Playa de Coy" (23/06/2020)

| Since the water is disinfected, chlorinated and chemically treated on a daily basis like that of any municipal swimming pool | The closure of the Coy beach has been a direct and unilateral imposition of the PSOE mayor, and it has been done without counting the neighborsThe excuses that have been given to prevent neighbors from using them do not correspond to reality at allThe Councilor for Rural Development in the municipality of Lorca for the Popular Party, Ángel Meca, has reported that the decision of the PSOE mayor to close the beach of Coy, means leaving this area of ??the high districts without an alternative in this regard during the torrid lorquino summer months.

We must point out that this order from Mr.

Mateos has not been communicated or agreed with the Municipal Corporation, in fact, we have had to find out about this measure in a letter from the mayor of the PSOE in which he puts as an excuse to close the beach some alleged regional norms, and a hypothetical consensusThe waters of the Coy beach are not, as Mr Mateos assures, "semi stagnant", nor "it is impossible", as they say "disinfect the area", much less this decision has been made "with the neighbors", nor is it true that its capacity cannot be controlled.

The truth is that the water flows, it is disinfected by a chemical treatment like that of a municipal swimming pool, it is not “stagnant”.

The area can be disinfected perfectly, as it is done in all the municipalities of Spain, and it has not had the neighbors to impose its closure.

In the Spanish cities, the municipal swimming pools are open, the beaches too, and even the water parks are providing their service without problems.

Obviously, if you want to open the beach, you can do it,maintaining sanitary conditions to prevent any type of problems. It is difficult for us to understand that the current mayor still ignores that the prevention and containment measures applicable in our Region to deal with COVID-19 do not prevent, in any way, that Playa de Coy can provide its function like any other year, since the only assumption that discourages bathing is water in which "disinfecting treatment is not possible", this not being the case of the popular Playa de Coy as all the residents know perfectly well. The popularly known as "Playa de Coy" constitutes one of the most unique enclaves of all the upper districts of Lorca, while it has become a resource for revitalization, especially during the summer months, when temperatures are higher.

We are talking about a well-conditioned place for leisure and enjoyment for all families, surrounded by green areas, trees and recreational areas in nature. The water that nourishes this "rural beach" emanates from a natural spring existing in this hamlet, but for its use as a bathing area it has been subjected to chemical treatments of similar characteristics to which it is subjected, for example, to the water of the pools.

Thus, for years the city council has been worrying that the water was always kept in perfect condition, avoiding any type of incident in this regard.

To do this, the municipal council commissioned and financed the tasks of continuous supervision and treatment of the water, which included the application of chlorine, flocculant, PH levellers and any other action that was necessary.
