The subtractions of agricultural products already exceed 15 tons, in the face of the total passivity of the mayor of the Socialists, who remains idle while the farmers continually denounce that they are abandoned in matters of citizen securityThe Councilor for Citizen Security in the municipality of Lorca for the Popular Party, María Belén Pérez, has proposed the immediate launch of an extraordinary surveillance device by the Local Police to fight against the continuous robberies that our farmers are suffering, and that they have intensified in recent days.From the PP we already denounced months ago that the current mayor had abandoned the residents of the districts in matters of citizen security, dismantling and destroying a model that was working perfectly and offering the best results in history.

We warned that this was going to happen, and not only did they ignore us, it was that they also responded with their usual arrogance.

They are not able to rectify because they lose their pride.

Lorca, also in terms of security, is much worse today than a year ago.María Belén Pérez has stated that we had a working security model and they have loaded it.

We already said in October that the dismantling decreed by Citizens and PSOE against the presence of the Local Police in districts left the neighbors abandoned to their fate, with a merely testimonial representation and without the ability to respond to any incident.

It has been an irresponsible dismantling.

Since the residents of the districts have learned of this reckless political imposition, they have shown their alarm, because they reject the destruction of a group that offered guarantees.Currently the robberies are seriously affecting farmers in different parts of the municipality, with special incidence on the watermelon plantations in the hamlet of La Hoya, but a few weeks ago it was the residents of the upper districts who were affected by a wave of robberies.

We must bear in mind that the summer campaign for the production and collection of agricultural products has practically just started, and the farmers are encountering thefts that, in addition to accentuating the feeling of citizen insecurity, make plantations unfeasible.The situation our farmers are experiencing is of great uncertainty, restlessness and a great dose of impotence, because they are seeing how the work they have carried out for many months is being ruined by the continuous robberies they suffer.

We are not only talking about specific subtractions or isolated events, but about robberies sustained over time and that do not stop.

In fact, the amount of stolen products already exceeds 15,000 kilos, as the victims have explained.We share the outrage of our farmers and propose that, as we did from the municipality of Lorca in similar situations, a special operation of surveillance, tracking and deterrence be established, which contributes to ending these robberies, and that it is coordinated with the State security forces and bodies to enhance their effectiveness.

At the moment, watermelon is the product that is in its most advanced phase, but it is followed by melon, peaches, plums and other summer plantations in general.We demand that the mayor of the PSOE establish an extraordinary operation, and respond to the sensitivity that our farmers did show when the city council asked them to disinfect the streets.The security cameras, without starting up, the increasingly short staff, the promised barracks in San Cristóbal, does not exist, and the districts without police to monitor them, this is what the current mayor has achieved.Each and every one of the issues that have to do with citizen security requires a criterion of responsibility, coherence and prudence, which to date have not been respected.

What the Local Police need is to equip it with more and more effective means, and to respect the operating formulas that have been successful.
