The mayor and vice mayor of Lorca raise the 'Blue Flag' badge that shines again, this year, in the Cala de Calnegre (02/07/2020)

From the Lorca Town Hall they emphasize that "this flag acquires a special importance this summer marked by the health emergency crisis, in which all Lorca and Lorca should be more proud, if possible, of our beaches that meet all the quality criteria established.

" The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Morales and the mayor of the Environment, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, have visited, this morning, the cove of Puntas de Calnegre, which this year will count again with the distinctive Blue Flag. The Mayor of Lorca has indicated that "for the municipality of Lorca it is a source of pride that we can count, once again, with this 'Blue Flag', in this cove of Calnegre that speaks of the quality and services it has and that offers the user.

" Diego José Mateos has highlighted that "this distinctive acquires a special importance in a summer that is undoubtedly marked by the health emergency crisis, which is why all Lorca and Lorca women should be more proud, if possible, of our beaches that comply with all established quality criteria ". Mateos has taken the opportunity to launch an appeal to lorquinos and visitors "to make good use of the beaches, in compliance with all the security and social distancing measures established by the authorities, since it is not up to everyone to Guard and do not have any spike in infections.

" The First mayor has reiterated that "what we want is for people to come to the beach, enjoy this natural environment, unique in our Region, also its beach bars and restaurants, and that those who visit us can do so with complete tranquility things are being done right here.

" For his part, the vice mayor and councilor for Tourism recalled that "this badge is given to those beaches that meet all the recommendations regarding safety and services, care for the environment, as well as accessibility for all types of people." Morales has stated that "the 'Blue Flag' positions the municipality of Lorca with a tourist offer of which we as Lorca are very proud, because to these beach possibilities we must add the green landscapes of the upper districts, and cultural tourism of our old town ". The Councilor for Tourism has also referred to the "new tourist brochure 'Rural Tourism and Beaches of Lorca' with which we want to increase the number of visitors in our municipality, betting on tourism that now seems fundamental to us, and that is as a consequence of the health crisis, people prefer to travel to quieter areas, which are not overcrowded, such as rural areas and natural beaches, such as Puntas de Calnegre, which becomes a perfect destination.

" Morales emphasized that "Lorca, with its 38 districts, has a lot to offer, so we invite all Lorca to enjoy all these natural charms, as well as visitors and tourists to come and meet us, because they don't know they will regret it.

" It should be noted that the 'Blue Flag' has become the symbol, most recognizable and recognized by the millions of users of beaches and ports, in almost fifty countries, as well as a world standard of tourism, previous and inspiring eco-quality of the other initiatives to certify the quality of beaches and ports. This social phenomenon was born more than 30 years ago to respond to a social need, felt and attended by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), for more than 30 years, reviewed and improved every year, internationally, within a permanent cooperative network. The criteria that a Blue Flag beach must meet are divided into four main blocks: information and Environmental Education; Water quality; Environmental management; and Security and Services.

In Spain, 589 beaches and 94 marinas in 233 municipalities are wearing the blue flag badge this summer of 2020.
