The PP proposes the conditioning and enhancement of the Condomina-Alporchones weir (10/07/2020)

| As a unique element of the historic fight for water in Lorca | It is an infrastructure that is no longer in use, which deserves municipal attention for cleaning and recovery, in such a way that it can become a useful and visited resource for the dissemination among current generations of Lorca hydraulic millsThe Councilor for Rural Development in the municipality of Lorca for the Popular Party, Ángel Meca, has proposed this morning that the Municipal Council take the appropriate actions to fix and put into operation the historic dam of the Guadalentín river as it passes through the hamlet de Marchena, which is currently equipped with a sluice system for the Condomina and Alporchones area.

We are talking about an infrastructure belonging to the vast heritage of hydraulic mills that our municipal area has.

It is an infrastructure whose origins date back centuries, and there are even documents stating actions for the use of water for irrigation in this enclave in Arab times.

This enclave is located in an area with a marked strategic profile in the area of ??water,in such a way that over the years it has been the subject of multiple interventions by the Lorca society, aimed at making profitable the existing water resources and establishing prevention devices in the event of episodes of heavy rains. We must point out that its main purpose is to facilitate the use of the so-called cloudy waters to facilitate irrigation for farmers, channeling the water through the network of bracers.

The most recent works on this infrastructure were carried out by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) in the 1970s, providing it with gates with characteristics similar to those that exist in the existing partition upstream from Guadalentín, specifically in the area near the convent of Las Clarisas.

Its current constitution is due to the works carried out by the CHS, included in the flood defense plan. The residents of the area themselves have informed us that the use of this infrastructure is currently nil, with its gates raised, and presenting an advanced state of deterioration, accumulation of dirt, garbage, having been subject to various material subtractions and, what The more they are concerned, they have detected that it is used for overnight stays by some people. From the Popular Party we request that the city council undertake the actions tending to the recovery of this infrastructure, with the double objective of solving the problems of insecurity for the residents and turning this enclave into a resource that can be visited and valued for all the inhabitants of Lorca.

We consider that the necessary cleaning and reconditioning of this infrastructure constitutes an opportunity to contribute to the dissemination among current generations of how the history of Lorca is the history of the fight for water, for its use and, on many occasions, to defend ourselves from the periodic floods that characterize our land. This proposal is framed within the line of work undertaken by the PP for the recovery and improvement of different historical engineering elements located in our municipal area, as is the case of the interpretation center of the Puentes reservoir dam (Puentes IV) , as well as the Molino del Escarambrujo, El Salto de la Diputación de Río and, more recently, the conversion of the post-transfer path Tajo-Segura between Lorca and Totana into a friendly path.
