| ´ for all those people who cannot personally pick up their books in the library | This initiative, carried out through the Department of the Elderly and Education and with the collaboration of ORA staff from the municipal company LIMUSA, is aimed at older people, with some disability, reduced mobility, in a situation of isolation or risk to Covid 19The vice mayor of Lorca and councilor of Public Companies, and the councilors of the Mayor and Libraries of the City of Lorca, Francisco Morales, María Dolores Chumillas and Antonia Pérez respectively, have presented, this morning, a new initiative launched by the Consistory to the loan of books and audiovisuals at home for all those who cannot travel to the Pilar Barnés Municipal Library.The deputy mayor and councilor for public companies, Francisco Morales, stressed that this is an excellent initiative of the Department of Education and the Mayor to promote a habit as healthy for the mind as it is reading in all people who, for different reasons , may be prevented from doing so.
This approach, in its logistics part, will be carried out through the workers of the municipal road traffic regulation service (ORA), thanks to the collaboration in this action of the municipal company Limusa ".The mayor of Libraries has explained that "this program is aimed at elderly people, with some disability, reduced mobility, in isolation or who are at higher risk of contracting Covid 19, in general it is a service for those who are temporarily or permanently they can't personally pick up their books in the library.
"Antonia Pérez recalled that "reading gives us the opportunity to travel without leaving the site, experience adventures or learn about History, as well as make the days more bearable, for this reason, from the Pilar Barnés Municipal Library we have wanted to be sensitive to this reality and launch this new service.
"For its part, the councilor of the Mayor has detailed that "this initiative, promoted by the Department of Social Policy of the Mayor in collaboration with the Department of Education, through the Municipal Network of Libraries, has the participation of municipal Service staff of road traffic regulation (ORA) that will make the distribution and delivery of these materials.
"María Dolores Chumillas recalled that "there have been several initiatives developed so that our elders can continue to enjoy reading, but also writing, such as 'Friendly Letters Against Solitude', a cross-correspondence program to promote communication among the elderly with the aim of creating new friendships and promoting the socialization of people who are currently alone at home.
"In order to enjoy 'We'll Take You', you just need to call the municipal library "Pilar Barnés", on the phone 968 473127 in the morning or afternoon or contact via email librarylorca@lorca.es to request the documents on loan (with the first installment, the library membership card will also be provided if you do not have it previously).
A maximum of three books and two audiovisuals from the collection may be loaned at the same time, including all the subjects and the Large Print and Easy Reading (LF) funds.Regarding the loan term, it will be a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 30, renewable if you do not have a reservation.
The documents will be delivered to the address and collected at the end of this time.
