The members of the Surveillance and Rescue Device on Beaches of the Lorca City Council rescue four people in Cala de Calnegre (21/07/2020)

Specifically, there were two young men, 18 and 15 years old, who were being washed away by the current and a 42-year-old woman with problems getting out of the water and a 24-year-old family member who had come to her aid. The Councilor for Emergencies of the Lorca City Council, Isabel Casalduero, has reported the rescue of four people in Cala de Calnegre. Casalduero explained that "the forces of the Surveillance and Rescue Device on Beaches of the City of Lorca have rescued this morning four people who were being swept away by the current and had difficulties getting out in Cala de Calnegre". The mayor has detailed that "the first event took place around 10:04 in the morning when 112 received a call alerting the impossibility of three bathers to get out of the water in Cala de Calnegre, and they immediately moved to the place two rescuers who fortunately, and despite being outside the official surveillance hours, the rescuers were by chance in the town.

" "Specifically, there were three men, ages 51, 18 and 15, who had difficulties getting out of the water and, while the adult managed to get out of the water through a rocky area, the two young men managed to hold onto the buoys that delimit the area bath and hold on until help arrives.

" Casalduero Jódar has indicated that he has revealed that "finally, and thanks to the professionalism of the members of the Beach Surveillance and Rescue Device, everyone has managed to get out of the water, with symptoms of tiredness, the usual nervousness about what happened and some bruises.

" "The second intervention took place at 1:45 p.m., when rescuers located in the Cala de Calnegre watchtower have seen a person with problems getting out of the water and a second one heading towards her.

Quickly, two First responders have come to the aid of the 42-year-old woman and her 24-year-old nephew, who had come to help her, both of whom are in perfect condition.

" Isabel Casalduero has insisted on "everyone's responsibility to avoid events of this type which, in this case and fortunately, has ended well" and recalled that "the surveillance hours on the beaches of Lorca are 11:30 at 19:30 and we must always pay attention to the state of the sea, indicated by the safety flags.
