| It thus responds to the request of the Lorca City Council that will be in charge of carrying out the works | The Autonomous Community gives the green light to the Lorca City Council to carry out the conditioning and construction works for the new Barrios Altos road that will improve traffic management and accessibility to the northern part of the city, located next to the Castle's hillside . The new perimeter road will notably improve the communications of the Barrios Altos, located in the topographically highest area of ??the city's urban area and encompassing five population areas: Calvario, San Lázaro, San Pedro, Santa María and San Juan The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, explained that his department "thus responds to a request from the municipality of Lorca" that will take charge of this work that will structure the communication of the highest areas of the urban area, and which foresees a regional investment of 3,469,000 euros. He highlighted the work carried out by his department "to obtain the required authorization from the European Investment Bank (EIB) since the financing is part of the loan obtained by the Autonomous Community with the aforementioned institution." The project of the new road, which is drawn up by the Ministry, has been designed under the criteria of achieving a smooth and adequate route for the projected area, taking into account the orography of the terrain, with steep slopes, the houses located on the hillside and the geology of the place. The new road, which will have a route of 780 meters, will be built to the northwest of the urban area and will connect the Rambilla de San Lázaro with the access road to the castle of Lorca, next to the church of Santa María and crossing the Barrios Altos.
Likewise, the project includes the rehabilitation of a sports court, and the construction of a children's area and a viewpoint.
