The last receipt issued by the company "Aguas de Lorca" in July includes domestic consumption that does not correspond to the billing period, but to the harshest months of the pandemic in which the operators of the supply company do not they did readings.

Now, says Sosa, those quantities consumed then take them to the last invoice, accumulate them with the regular consumption of the last two-month period, and, logically, in a multitude of cases there is a jump in the "growing billing blocks"bulking the invoice to pay with a penalty for excessive consumption that in reality has not occurred. To understand what happened, it is necessary to explain how water reading and collection works in Lorca.

Consumption is divided into four sections.

In each of them the price per cubic meter of water is higher than in the previous one, which means that if we go from the first to the second section, we will start paying more expensive water.

The same happens if we go from the second to the third or from the third to the fourth, the most expensive of all.

This mechanism is supposed to work this way to penalize excessive water consumption and encourage the saving of water resources. But here it has not been the case, here there has been an artificial accumulation of consumption that transcends the two-month period with that of the two-month period itself. Sosa denounces that in the last plenary session of the City Council, through a request, he required the local government to verify what was happening, and that, in his case, responsibilities be cleared and the money collected from the citizens was returned, but Far from it, the Government, through the Citizen Councilor who is responsible for Aguas de Lorca, has responded to him with a contradictory and incongruous letter denying the oldest. For Sosa, "there is no more blind than he who does not want to see." Just yesterday, he says, I was able to personally verify the existence of citizen queues outside the offices of "Aguas de Lorca" to claim for bulky receipts that in some cases reach figures that exceed half the monthly income of some families.

I could see how a woman accompanied by her family and who wanted explanations for a receipt of 400 euros, suffered an anxiety attack at that door of the company that required the presence of an ambulance. This is not going to stay like this, maintains the mayor of IU-V.

"If in the following receipt the company does not return the overcharged money to the users of Lorca, it is more than likely that we will be forced to bring the matter to the criminal court for a possible crime of fraud".

It is, says Sosa, what is already being done in other municipalities in Spain, in front of water companies from the same multinational group as ours, due to the same practices that have occurred here.
