IU-Verdes denounces the unfair distribution of the Investment Plan in the districts of Lorca (10/08/2020)

The councilor of this formation, Gloria Martín, has regretted that the social-liberal government of PSOE and C's has signed an agreement with the regional executive whereby 70% of the funds are destined to the most central and developed districts while the from the north and those from the coast will not receive a euroThe councilor for Izquierda Unida-Verdes de Lorca, Gloria Martín, today called "unfair" and "unbalanced" the distribution of funds from the 2020/2021 District Plan, financed by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and that last Friday it was the subject of an agreement signed by the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos.Martín has explained that almost 70% of the 737,092 euros of the Plan will go to finance 9 actions in the districts of the center of Lorca (Marchena, Tiata, Cazalla (2), La Hoya (2), Tercia, Campillo.

closer to the town center of Lorca, equipped with better communications and services and without depopulation problems. On the contrary, the southern districts will receive only 18.3% of the funds (actions in Almendricos, Pozo Higuera (2), Morata and Purias), while the Highlands, with only two actions (La Paca and Coy) , they will only receive 11.9% of the total. But the most bloody case, in the opinion of the mayor of IU-Verdes, is the districts of the north and those of the coast, which will not receive "not one euro" of the plan.

Thus, while there are councils such as Pozo Higuera, La Hoya or Cazalla in which two actions will be carried out, others such as Río, La Tova-La Parroquia or Ramonete and their areas of influence, "have been left out of investments."Martín has assured that this distribution does not serve the fundamental objective of the plan, which is "to correct the imbalances in the most depressed districts with respect to those more central and developed".

In this sense, the IU-Verdes councilor has regretted that the socio-liberal government of PSOE and C's continues "the same path as the PP" and forgets those areas most affected by the lack of public services, poor communications and with a greater depopulation index, being, therefore, "those that most require a courageous policy of territorial cohesion".Gloria Martín has also condemned that the local government has not agreed on the actions to be carried out with the municipal group whose votes were decisive to make Mateos mayor and, above all, that this distribution was made with the backs of the neighbors, "in breach of the investiture agreement in relation to democracy, transparency and citizen participation ".In this regard, Martín assured that throughout the past weekend he has contacted different neighborhood associations that have confirmed that the actions embodied in the plan have not been agreed with them.

"We are very afraid that the social-liberal government PSOE and C's have acted the same as the PP did, which only spoke with their petty mayors or with their neighbors, marginalizing the bulk of the inhabitants of each town from decision-making ".For all this, Martín has again demanded compliance with another fundamental point of the investiture pact signed between IU and PSOE more than a year ago, which is the implementation of the Citizen Participation Regulation, to "empower" the inhabitants of rural Lorca and also the neighborhoods, in order to enable the distribution of resources and investments in all the territories of Lorca "in a fair and orderly manner.""We also want them to comply with the suppression of the undemocratic figure of the pediatric mayor, so that the neighbors can directly elect their links with the city council," Martín concluded.
