The City Council of Lorca celebrates the implementation of the professional qualification 'Embroidery craft operations' (12/08/2020)

| Which will allow the recognition of embroiderers from Lorca | The mayor of Education, Antonia Pérez, hopes that "this new degree can be taught at IES Bartolomé Pérez Casas as approved in the ordinary plenary session corresponding to last July". The Councilor for Education of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez, has announced the publication, this Tuesday, August 11, in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of the 'Professional qualification: Embroidery craft operations' ", included in the family professional: Textile, Clothing and Leather. The Councilor for Education has indicated that "without a doubt this is magnificent news for Lorca, and for the recognition of embroidery, taking into account the great tradition that exists in our municipality with embroidery, which, without going any further, makes our Easter in a unique event in the world ". Antonia Pérez has detailed that "according to the BOE publication, the purpose of this professional qualification will be to embroider by hand or machine decorative designs, garments or other fabric products, fine leathers and other materials, complying with the regulations on environmental protection and planning of preventive activity, and applying quality standards ". Pérez Segura has stated that "this announcement will allow Lorca's embroiderers to prove their years of work and their profession can be recognized academically, as well as to put their knowledge at the service of all those who see a professional outlet in this trade". The mayor of Education recalled that "once this announcement by the Government of Spain has been made in the BOE, from the City Council we urge the regional government to start the implementation of the necessary training complements and make them available to the Lorca embroidery machines so that all the processes of recognition of this professional certificate can be streamlined as much as possible, as approved in the ordinary plenary session corresponding to last July.

Likewise, we hope that this new degree can be taught at the IES Bartolomé Pérez of Lorca, where studies of the textile branch of Vocational Training are already taught ". Finally, it must be remembered that Lorca embroidery, which is considered an art in itself, is a candidate to be declared Intangible Asset of Humanity by Unesco.
