The City Council of Lorca reinforces surveillance for compliance with individual security measures and quarantine periods (13/08/2020)

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, recalled that "it is in each of us to be able to cut the transmission chain by strictly complying with the measures, whether in our homes, with family, our friends, in the workplace or also at the time of purchase ". The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has reported on the meeting of the COVID Monitoring Committee in the municipality that has been held again this morning and in which the general director of the Autonomous Community, José Carlos Vicente, the Manager of the Murcian Health Service (SMS), Asensio López and that of Health Area 3, Enrique Casado. The mayor of Lorca has pointed out that "the situation continues to be worrying, although not alarming, in terms of the number of infections in our municipality.

This morning at this meeting the lines of work in which, at this time, have been put on the table , more we must insist such as containing the number of new infections, controlling asymptomatic people and those who, despite being infected, do not comply with the quarantine period in their homes.

" Diego José Mateos has insisted that "vigilance, which we have already been carrying out through the Local Police, will be increased to comply with mandatory measures such as the use of a mask, as well as control of those who have tested positive for coronavirus and have to respect the prescribed quarantine period.

" The Mayor has reiterated that "our hand will not shake when applying sanctions for non-compliance, and these people must be clear that the full weight of the Law will fall on them." Mateos recalled that "it is in each of us to be able to cut the transmission chain by strictly complying with the measures, whether in our homes, with family, our friends, in the workplace or also at the time of carrying out the purchase". The mayor of Lorca recalled that "any person who has been diagnosed as a positive case by Covid-19 is obliged to maintain a home isolation of 14 days, a measure that must also be complied with by all those who are considered as close or very close contact that infected person ".

To ensure this compliance, Area III Health has hired several social workers to reinforce this monitoring; a task for which more than 1,500 home calls are made daily. In the same way, Mateos has insisted that "at the slightest, as soon as any symptom related to Covid-19 is detected, it must be reported immediately to your health center, and that person will be immediately given an appointment for the performance of diagnostic tests ".

In this sense, the mayor recalls that, in addition to the telephone line enabled at 900121212, it is recommended to request that appointment through the Murcian Health Service app, or on the website www.murciasalud.es The mayor has indicated that "as we have been doing since the beginning of this pandemic, we will continue to make all human and technical resources available to the health authorities with the main objective of controlling this situation." Finally, Diego José Mateos has stated "that it is clear that these next few weeks we are playing a lot to avoid having to go back part of the entire journey with the social and economic consequences that this would have for the municipality." It should be noted that the creation of this Monitoring Committee was one of the measures adopted this week between the City Council and Public Health of the CARM to control infections in the municipality, it has a multidisciplinary nature, since various councils of the City Council participate, such as the of Health, Emergencies, Citizen Security and Social Services, together with technical personnel from the SMS, who carry out regular meetings ".
