IU-V holds the local government responsible for the ruin of the House of Guevara (09/09/2020)

| Neither PP then, nor the government of PSOE and Ciudadanos now, have done anything to prevent the increasingly irreversible deterioration of this listed historical property | The Municipal Spokesman of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, has appeared this morning before the media to give the "umpteenth voice of alarm" of his group before the progressive architectural deterioration of one of the most relevant buildings of the historical and cultural heritage of Lorca , known as "Casa de los Guevara", a property located in the heart of the city, on the street that connects the Church of Santiago with the Plaza de San Vicente. Sosa has firmly affirmed that "for the irreversibility of his state and its consequent ruin and demolition, we are now holding all those who have had government responsibility in Lorca, and they have done nothing except look the other way before the deterioration of years of a singular property, cataloged, with elements declared BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) such as the shields on its façade, and with other notable landmarks worthy of protection, among which the singular turret that culminates the property and the coffered ceiling, the frescoes stand out.

and the plasterwork of the property ". Sosa affirms that we have been putting this alarming deterioration on the table for years, and that in 2017 we managed to get the PP, in the government then, even through an amendment to the IU proposals, to commit itself in a plenary session to address the owners to remind them of their conservation duties on the property. But nothing has been done, the House has been for years and to the shame of the city of Lorca in what is known as the "Red List of Spanish Historical Heritage" and quite possibly, Sosa regrets, the subsidy contemplated for the restoration of this property in the Master Plan for the Recovery of the Cultural Heritage of Lorca.

A subsidy that reaches almost half a million euros (470,000 euros) and that should have already been implemented in the property in accordance with the calendar of the aforementioned Plan, which contemplated its implementation in 2013 and 2014. The left-wing mayor has reported that they will bring initiatives to the Plenary of the City Council as many times as necessary to remind all of their duties in relation to this matter.

The first to the owners, who are responsible for the elementary duties of custody, conservation and maintenance that the laws for the protection of historical and cultural heritage (Spanish and Murcian) require and that the urban laws impose.

And then to the local administration itself, which has the unavoidable obligation to demand that the owners respect the laws and to act in the opposite case to save such an emblematic property from demolition and rubbish. Sosa recalled that he has already made the Mayor participate in a possible urban solution for the property and for the entire San Vicente area, which would value the municipal lot of the old Police Station and finance it through its promotion (public or private) the purchase and restoration of the Casa de Guevara for the town of Lorca.

Something similar to what was done in Lorca with the restoration of the Huerto Ruano.
