The mayor, Diego José Mateos, participated, this Friday, in the videoconference 'Mayors: Strategy to fight the depopulation of rural areas of the Region of Murcia' with the Counselor of the Presidency of CARM, Javier Celdrán and with the General Director of Administration Local, Francisco Abril. The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has announced that "from the Consistory we are going to make available to the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia everything that has been advanced in Lorca in terms of depopulation". Diego José Mateos explained that "this Friday we participated in a videoconference" Mayors: Strategy to fight the depopulation of rural areas in the Region of Murcia "with the Minister of the Presidency of CARM, Javier Celdrán and with the Director General of Local Administration, Francisco Abril.

A telematic meeting that consisted of a contact with the municipalities of the Region on the issue of depopulation, municipalities in which an analysis of the situation will be carried out, and the results of which will be presented at the Table Regional depopulation ". Mateos Molina has highlighted that "this work is well advanced in our municipality where a Table for the Depopulation of the Highlands has already been carried out and whose conclusions we will make available to the Autonomous Community with the main objective that the measures or issues that can be carried out in our municipality can be extrapolated to other localities in the Region suffering from similar problems ". The Mayor has reiterated that "like other areas of the Region such as the Northwest Region, the Ricote Valley or the Mula River, Lorca also needs urgent measures to help our neighbors to establish their residence in the districts where they were born and raised, as well as incentives for all those neighbors who want to establish their residence there ". Finally, the mayor has insisted that "from the City Council we have been working hand in hand with the residents of the Highlands, as well as with groups and associations in the area for the implementation of initiatives that also allow the economic development of these areas of the municipality ".
