Sosa: "The local government in the face of the pandemic is a pottage of lack of control" (14/09/2020)

| "improvisation, biased information, contempt for the rest of political agents, little efficiency, neglect in complying with their own obligations and neglect of demanding other responsible parties public "| The municipal spokesperson of IU-Verdes, Pedro Sosa, has appeared this morning before the media to demand from the municipal government a shift of one hundred and eighty degrees in its way of doing politics in relation to the health crisis that we suffer and that has been made especially acute in the municipality of LorcaSosa has stated that when the second wave of infections began to become evident in Lorca, we sent the Mayor several messages with our demands.

The first of them is that he was especially scrupulous in complying with his own competences that have to do with the pandemic and its control.

The second that articulated a policy of daily communication towards the citizens of Lorca that was effective, systematic, unbiased, clarifying and "bullshit".

A third demand was to involve all political and social agents in the fight against the spread of the pandemic in Lorca.

And a fourth implied that it had the obligation to raise the level of demand of Lorca towards the regional Administration in the fulfillment of the autonomic competences, taking into account two things:that Health Area III (Lorca and its Region) has historical deficits and was already underfunded before the start of the pandemic, and, secondly, that the outbreaks in Lorca had to be tackled with determination and an effective health response to the needs of users of the Lorca health.Well, none of this is being fulfilled by the Lorca politicians and their Mayor at the helm.

Sosa has described as "pottage", without order or concert, the action of the local government in relation to the pandemic.

The straw that broke the camel's back has been the late request to postpone the start of the school year in our municipality.

A request and a regional decision that should have been adopted much earlier, thus generating less uncertainty and less chaos in all the actors of the educational community: students, parents of students, and teaching professionals.

A decision that, in addition, by not being accompanied by the necessary investment effort in technology and human resources in the centers, is going to generate many problems. But criticism, says Sosa, doesn't just stop there.

The management of communication towards citizens is terrible, and the political representatives of thousands and thousands of Lorca have to find out through social networks of the actions and municipal proposals.

We are hardly called at all.Much hype is given to the sanctioning proceedings derived from the action of the Local Police regarding the use of masks and parties and bottles, but it is not clarified that in relation to the former the competent one is the regional Administration, and we have not been still provided any data that confirms that not a single fine has actually been paid.

Regarding the bottles it can be even worse, since it gives the impression that in Lorca no file is being processed (when we have an ordinance that obliges us to do so) and most likely they are being referred to the regional Administration without knowing if there they are processing -and concluding- those files with effective sanctions or, directly, they end up prescribing in the drawers.Abundant in criticism, "late and bad", in the opinion of the IU councilor, the decision has been made to separate the COVID testing from health centers, and to take it to a site that meets the conditions, which would remove the danger of contagion and not short-circuit the regular operation of primary care in many neighborhoods of Lorca and in its urban center.

It has been done weeks after the opposition groups in Lorca proposed it.

And it is also done by taking the tests in a place without toilets, without telematic connections and without minimum conditions, and, to top it all, without the slightest criticism of a health system that has suspended primary care in much of Lorca. Thus, Pedro Sosa has demanded that the Mayor consider the need to turn around all the aforementioned policies, counting on all the political and social actors of Lorca to tackle one of the most gigantic challenges that we have faced in our history as a people.
