The Lorca City Council brings together the economic agents of the municipality to detail the measures adopted and agree on proposals (16/09/2020)

Municipal representatives and economic actors agree that merchants and hoteliers are being affected, but agree to act with unity, responsibility and in coordination to try to improve the current situation as soon as possible The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Economy, Francisco Morales, together with the Councilor for Health, José Ángel Ponce, held a meeting yesterday afternoon with all the economic agents of the municipality to detail the specific measures adopted by the Ministry of Health for the containment of the outbreak of Covid-19 in our urban area. Diego José Mateos explained to those present the course of events that "have led to the announcement of entry into a flexible Phase 1 of the urban area of ??the municipality, a measure adopted by the Ministry of Health and the Epidemiology Service of the Region of Murcia given the high number of infections and the forecast given the scarcity of health resources.

All the measures have been adopted thinking about the safeguarding of the health and life of Lorca.

" For seven days mobility is restricted except for work, health, assistance to dependents or academics; not allowing interior use of catering establishments for consumption, maintaining the maximum capacity on terraces at 75 percent and at 50 percent in shops. Francisco Morales has affirmed that "in yesterday's meeting we have received the support of the economic agents for the current situation in Lorca, for which we greatly appreciate, and we have reaffirmed to act with unity, responsibility and coordination.

Obviously, the commercial sector and the hotelier is affected by the measures taken in favor of the lives of Lorca and they have transferred their concern to us in this regard, but they know that they have us by their side and we have confirmed that we will continue to act in a coordinated and loyal manner with all administrations , leaving aside political issues, and that we will demand all possible aid from both supra-municipal governments and the rest of the relevant institutions.

" The Councilor for the Economy has stated that "the City Council has given everything of itself, despite its limited resources, supporting the self-employed and SMEs with up to one million euros in lost funds to help them cope with the negative economic consequences of the health crisis Given that this amount has not been exhausted, we are going to study the possibility that the remaining available can continue to be invested in aid to trade and hospitality.

Also, from the first moment, the occupation of public space for terraces was made more flexible and not its fee will be charged as long as it is necessary to cushion the damage to the hoteliers as much as possible ". In the words of the vice mayor, "also, from the Consistory, we have highlighted the effort of our merchants and hoteliers, transferring confidence to the people of Lorca that they comply with all hygienic-sanitary measures through the 'Safe Hospitality' and 'Commerce of confidence ', among other indicators.

We have materialized these initiatives and others despite the fact that both the skills and resources available to local administrations are scarce.

For this reason, we work in coordination with regional, national and European institutions and demand everything possible effort on your part.

" Among other issues, the economic sector was reminded of the provision by the regional government of aid and subsidies to businesses to equip and facilitate teleworking, to promote work-life balance or for tourism and hospitality, and they encouraged entrepreneurs not to leave to request and benefit from them.
